I think most teams can pull out their 2 best quarters, double them and get around that 100 points.
To be fair though, who cares about 100 points if you're winning? I'd be happy to score 80 points and win 2 of 3 times, for now. :)

We will be looking for goal-kickers though come years end and if they come by way of names such as Coniglio, then that's fine also.
Despite BT's BS on Thursday that teams can't win these days if they don't kick 100 points, only 2 of 18 sides managed the feat on the weekend, and they all one by massive margins.

I agree if we can regularly post scores around the 80 mark we should be happy. Based on yesterdays game though we should be looking to break the 100 against the Saints and the Suns both times.

Cant carry Garlett as a defender and Ed as a forward - love to be proved wrong - there is a first time for anything. Phillips better improve fitness fast because he is causing Bolton to destroy Harry as a forward. Gibbons V Polson is an interesting one- I 'm leaning towards Polson after watching Gibbons - do nothing for 4 quarters. Cuningham this is the year you get to show something the Club needs you to show something better than spotty cameos - same for SPS- stop being a part time player and get your hands dirtier more often.

That is the sort of arrogance that has got us into the mess we have been in for the past 20 years. That is what we thought last year about GCS, and they toweled us up. How long has it been since we kicked more than 100 points? 4 June 2016. We managed 64 points against Richmond. Let's focus against PA this week and worry about the rest when they come around.

Ed ended up with 25 possessions and 12 marks on the weekend - I think your may not understand what he is being asked to do.

Not arrogance, just fact. We need to beat those teams and beat them comfortably if we are going to improve this year.

Good thing the fans aren't the ones playing the game then eh? Fan arrogance has zero input on team performance

All I want him to do is dominate and kick goals. We scored 64 points and he had zero impact on the game.

Are you seriously suggesting that if we beat these two teams that will show we have improved? If these are the only teams we beat, then BB had better renew his teaching qualifications. He will need them in his next job.

Well Carlton fans have nothing to be arrogant about. This century has been a nothing of a disaster, thanks to the stupidity of various boards. Once again we are getting ahead of ourselves talking about games we are going to win when we opened the season with 64 points.

Good point. This has been my only criticism of team Bolton/Silvagni this far. But I guess I’d take those stats any day from a small forward.

Still wasn’t anywhere clean enough or attacking enough with those possessions. But he has earned the right to improve.

I guess you have to get the ball to use it.. his 25 better than 6

Hard but fair. Agree with your comments on Garlett & Ed. Again, I hope we are both proved wrong and they produce something special. Also worried about our Ruck mobility. Not sure what the short term answer is.
I would give Gibbons another 2 weeks. Still think his assets, running power and goal sense are better than Polson.
SPS is on the right track, good hands. He is set for a good week.

Looking at going over to adelaide and getting tickets to watch the game.

Any suggestions on best areas to sit at adelaide oval? Haven't been before so have no idea on seating areas and whether there would be a designated area for away fans

We scored 64 points!!!!!

And if we had restricted them a little more earlier in the game, we'd have won. 64 points on a night where our forwards had minimal impact, lots of upside. Get around it, Moody, lots to be excited about.

How good is this colder weather? I love it, reminds me that winter is coming. That also means GoT will be upon us very soon. Exciting times.

No that is not what I said, I said we need to beat these teams comfortably and score 100 points against them to showman we have improved. If we don't beat those teams we'll we won't beat too many others.

You seem to think Ed is being asked to play the same role a second Eddie Betts when in fact he is playing much more as amid that just starts forward.

Could he be better with his decision making going into FWD 50, for sure. Do I think that he will improve in this area if he keeps getting those sort of stats, definitely

This. He's not a defender. Its like trying to put a square peg in a round hole.
I think Garlett had plenty of chances foward last year and failed. He did not have the required defensive urgency. If he fails in the defensive role I doubt there is a spot in the team for him. Happy to give him a month in the ones to see if he can make a go of it in the backline.

unfortunately 20 of those disposals ended up in the hands of players wearing yellow and black. To indecisive, had the ball twice knowing he couldn't make the 40m journey and held on to it for too long.

His disposal efficiency was 72%. Which means 18 disposals found their mark perfectly.

Perfect summary.

Needs to move the ball quicker. On at least 3 occasions he knew straight away he was too far out to score, yet persisted with going back taking time and invariably lobbing a 30m lollypop to awaiting richmond hands.

Working well to provide and option and make space. Just needs to move the ball quicker once he gets it

We scored 64 points!!!!!

We scored 50+ points in the second and third quarters.

After misfiring in the first (had some entries but the quality wasn't great).

And then in the final quarter we took risks to try and close the gap and conceded a few goals on the turnover.

That was round one of a 22 round season, against the flag favourites. We could have had an Essendon vs GWS performance and been completely reamed, but we weren't. We got jumped early, adjusted, clawed our way back into the game, then coughed it up in the last again much better opposition. It's not the end of the world - in fact, it's probably what we should have expected. Richmond were never going to come out a meekly accept a first quarter drubbing like we gave them round one 2018, they'd have been shown the tape a few times, and the coaches would have used that game to fire them up. Took us a while to adjust, but our response as the game wore on was, if not amazing, certainly positive.

I'd hope we can put 80+ points on the board most weeks from here on out. We'll still have some games where we fall short of that, but we should also have a few games where we put together 4 very good quarters and hit that ton. It's not unreasonable to look ahead to that, it's not like the fact we scored 64 points this week means we're not allowed to assume any better over the rest of the season.

Close game against Port in SA, win or lose, and I'll be satisfied. Ideally we should be getting the win, then taking it up to an under pressure Sydney and GC in rounds 3 and 4. Two wins from the first four games would be very nice, and I'd like one of those wins to be a "comfortable" one where we're not maniacally chasing or defending down to the last 30 seconds.

Gotta trust the forwards in a one-on-one. That should be the message to the mids this week. If Harry or Gov or Charlie or Fas has a defender isolated, pull the trigger. Of the possible results - we mark, we win a free, we halve the contest, we lose possession - I'll take three out of the four. Good odds.

Rowe would be nice around now...

LOL... this is a joke, right?

On the game:
Hopefully we can do a little better than our average losing margin to Port at Adelaide Oval... but the Adelaide teams love feasting on Carlton for some reason. The focus of this game should be coming through with no injuries to key players with the following 3 games much more gettable.
