All I really remember about that game is that the Swans were god awful, allowing a completely undermanned Adelaide side to dominate.
Was at the game.

You should really have won that, we were punch drunk and on the ropes with 10 mins to go. Looked like you’d over run us, but Heeney missed 2-3 sitters in the final minutes. Franklin also I think.

I genuinely think we can and should win... but I thought that about last week so it's hard to be confident
Last week there were 6 upset victories out of 9 games. For me that indicates 1 thing, round 1 form is a murky mess, and never something that you can take confident hot takes from!

Sidenote, we can all feel happy in the knowledge that Bookies around Australia took a bath on the weekend.

...
Our best players kept dropping easy marks, fumbling ground ball, kicking and handballing to the Hawks. Why did this happen? I have NFI, our skills looked good in the JLTs. IMHO it was not the Hawks game plan or pressure, many of the blunders happened under zero pressure.
...
I've wondered whether taking the week immediately before R1 off has anything to do with this. Here we have players working hard in the preseason and honing their skills and just before the season gets under way, they take a week off - maybe getting a bit distracted losing a little focus when they get back.

Maybe having the week before the first JLT match for their week off might be better for continuity and they don't start the season rusty and fumbly as.

That doesn't indicate one thing. There are multiple things it could indicate, including that teams have shifted positions. It happens every year. Shit teams don't stay shit forever, and good teams don't stay good forever.

Thats pretty much what I mean by "Round 1 form is a Murky Mess". Its the short way of saying there is way too many factors to consider so i'll put them under a single blanket term and not try and predict anything from it!

The key question for me - if we lose, does that mean season over at Round 2? Our next month looks very tricky without picking up this game. Having been at the Swans game, if they start like they finished I think we are in serious trouble. They are also likely to adopt the Clarkson game plan of crowding our forward line and then injecting speed into the half back line to run it away when our key forwards (once again) fail to fire....

Any truth to this?

It's the classic 5AA '[key player] rumoured to be a late out' thing they churn out before every single game we play to get people listening in. Problem being the nature of the whole thing means they very occasionally get it right.

I think our season is mostly over as is, the nail in it is if we lose tonight.

I reckon we'll paper over some cracks today. That paper will only last a few weeks but our coaches will deem our backed in response a huge success.

Crows by 37

If we win by 37 points tonight I'd be confident of a win over Geelong. Then we play North, Gold Coast, St Kilda and Freo.

So 6W 1L after 7, Scorpus? ;)

Not sure whether to request a refund or not. Going to miss the game now, and will have to cough up for the cost of the hotel regardless.

Wouldn't have been an issue if those muppets had been on time in the first place.

Barrett is like Cornes. Make a bold statement, then if it happens you're a hero and if wrong then it was just a bold statement.
Got a bit of Rucci about him too in that he'll call clubs/players certanties to do something that is 50-50 at best, then when it doesn't happen it's a massive failure by the team/player.
