I believe this is incorrect.

Hannebery is one of my Nephew's best mates (same year at Xavier) and he told him a few days ago he'll be a number of weeks away with a calf injury.

Well how many weeks is a “number of weeks”?
Could certainly cover three or four.

Do you think Hannebery would even know ? I doubt it.

The impression was he isn't close to playing, i.e. not in the next 4-5 weeks.

My main contribution though is that it's not a hamstring, it's a calf.

Wilkie definitely a dark horse here. Mobile and a good user, can see him getting opportunities early.
Not surprised to see him start round 1. I think he will be hard to move out of back 6, looks a very well rounded player. I assume with Joyce playing a lock down roll Wilkie will be given the chance to play more offensive, really hoping we get to see that 55m kick come Saturday.

ST KILDA Updated: Tuesday, March 19

Player Injury Estimated Return

Nathan Brown Suspended Round 2
Jack Bytel Back Season
Jake Carlisle Back Indefinite
Oscar Clavarino Ankle 3-5 weeks
Dan Hannebery Hamstring 2-4 weeks
Max King Knee 8-10 weeks
Doulton Langlands Hamstring Test
Billy Longer Hamstring 1-2 weeks
Paddy McCartin Concussion TBC
Dylan Roberton Heart Season
Jack Steven Mental health Test

Early prognosis
Steven
has the tick from a mental health perspective, but needs to prove his physical fitness.
The build-up continues for Hannebery, who has experienced hamstring tightness when he's increased his training loads.
McCartin faces more tests after his eighth concussion since 2014. - Dinny Navaratnam
So that's 1/3 of the starting 18 out before round one. Brilliant:poo:

Yeah its been a crap run so far. We're due for some luck aren't we?

We get Nathan Brown back for round 2 which is good as he is in ripping nick. Let's hope Hannas responds to treatment and comes back by round 6

Looking forward to seeing Winx when he comes back from the knee reco. Very exciting player - the kind you can build a side around. Was rapt when we picked him and a wise choice especially with Paddy's ongoing issues

Tom Browne on Triple M said that Paddy has been too unwell from the concussion to get any scans done.
Nothing new from Tom Browne. Richo has said that multiple times since Paddy's concussion including on Friday on SEN and in his post match press conference.

It's worrying hat he is still symptomatic and really does suggest it's time for Paddy to put his long term health first and retire.

As the Big O famously sung, "It's Over! " This is so sad and not just from the perspective of disappointed saints' fans. A young man has lost his career and the joy of playing footy at any level. My bigger concern, having dealt with numerous people with ABI's is what the future holds for him. Even at this stage, after 8-9 concussions and other head knocks, there is bound to be some permanent damage.

As a type 1 diabetic, the implications are dire. Slower to respond to treatment and heal, he faces significant challenges for decades ahead. Quite tragic.

Cannot put long term health at risk. Paddy seems such a good "bloke" that he will excel at whatever he does. Good luck to him.

Would have been great if Winx could have got out by the Moorabbin VFL game in early May. 40k crowd. :p. If he’s only now entering non contact training, then you’d think the 5-10 weeks they have put on it that he’d be at the longer end of that.

Thanks for that. It wouldn't shock me if he didn't play this year. Probably won't see him before the bye at a minimum.

Spud and jack hevron (?) Were taling about Paddy earlier. Has he been moved to indefinite on the injury list? When did this happen? I must have missed it.

Poor kid. I really hope he comes good in the next 3 months or I hate to say he may need to make a long term decision

What do you mean by "come good"? Do you mean you hope the concussions symptoms finally disappear and he can get back to playing footy?
Because the way I see it, and I've said this 100 times on here, he's had 8 concussions in 40 games. Who cares if he is back in the position to play footy in a months time? What difference would it make when he gets concussed so easily? What happens if he cops an elbow in a game and gets a serious hit?

This is his health and the rest of his life.. 8 concussions in 40 games, can anyone honestly say they think he can play another 100 games without a single concussion? I doubt it.

The smart thing would be for the club to make the decision for him.

We are on the same boat mate , all this talk of doing more tests ect ect ect , it isnt going to help him going forward as a player , he needs to retire before he cops a decent hit again .
I cant understand what is going on at the club , i would have thought its a no brainer that the club should not let him play again,

Ps, i cant understand those who want to see him back on the park , if Paddy was your son would you want him to play again ?

Just like the bulldogs let Liam Picken make his own decision about retiring after 18 months from concussions. From what i can see most if not all clubs get the player in the end to decide.

Personally i dont think its the players decision , what happens in say 5 or 6 weeks time when he is feeling well again and the docs sign off that he is ok to play and gets himself knocked out again god forbid even worse than this last one .
The club has a duty of care for their players and they should just sat Paddy we are sorry but we cant risk your health anymore , its time to hang them up

As tough as it is for Paddy, I think this is the likely outcome and in his best long term interest.
Just too big a risk for him and the club.

We should be putting time into Max King, then, if Paddy is not going to make it.
Barry , They have been doing that for about the last 10 months , im pretty sure they are all over it at the club , and there is only so much the kid can do after coming back from a knee , you gotta look after Winx , they dont come along very often
