The best key forward available who’s out of contract and a free agent is Josh Bruce from St Kilda. Playing for one of the worst teams in the league he’s still put up decent numbers over the years.

He would be a good fit for Hawthorn as a center half forward and wouldn’t cost much salary wise either.

2015: 50 goals
2016: 38 goals
2017: 36 goals
2018: Injured

I didn't watch - how'd he go? Struggled a bit did he?

That'll bring his price down.

He couldn't get near it hutchings is a very good tagger thou.
I hope we get cogs he is a bull and clean,
but they will be throwing the kitchen sink at him and Kelly. It's a different scenario now they have the money to do so and it's pattons last yr on 800k.

I like this a lot. Well played.

Birchall Rough and Burger creates another 1.5 mill cap space.

Unless Lewis shows something fairly quickly we are going to need a new target as Schoey and TOB are not the answer.

Surely we snag mason wood

Structurally speaking Wood would be a good acquisition. While he's somewhat undersized he is still capable of taking a cracking contested mark which we sorely lack. While he is contracted until 2020, if he remains out of favour then I can see North trying to offload him. Would only be 26 so in the right age profile.

But Wood looks lazy out there. He has some flashy passages where he kicks 2-3 goals but often is missing for large periods with minimal impact. It gives me Vickery vibes.

If it happens that man bun has to GTFO. We don’t do man buns at Hawthorn 😂

I don't think Clarko is desperate for a big key forward. Our forward line is still one of the best in the comp, if we can win in out of the centre. Look for more than one midfielder coming in at the end of the year

This.

We have no midfield depth. It’s a desperate need.

We need to add midfield depth and class, Coniglio as a FA is an absolute non negotiable if we want to win a flag between 2020-2022.

What this bloke said.

Our midfield even with Mitchell up and going is still quite shallow and there's no point having a big hulking forward if we struggle to get the ball to him.

We need to not only add another elite midfielder but also more solid depth as well, however we need to do it on the cheap.

Obviously we're having a red hot crack at luring Coniglio as a FA, but don't be surprised if we bring someone else across like Will Brodie from GCS in a deal similar to the Scrimshaw trade.

Another one that might be worth our while having a crack at could be Joe Atley from Port Adelaide, perhaps in a package with Joel Garner.

Brennan Cox from Freo might be worth a shout as a key forward target.

With limited opportunities in a now forward line stacked with talls, Cox may be starved of opportunities both at the selection table and from Freo's typically poor method of kicking inside 50.

He's shown a bit for mine, could add real value without costing us a great deal at the trade table

Shame not your traditional key position player, but still a very good footballer.

I was watching the GWS vs Eagles game the other day and it seems the new 6-6-6 rule hasn't really benefited him much. That and also the new ruling with defenders being able to put a hand on a players back without it being called a free kick. I'm sure he'll adjust but it will be interesting to see how many forwards this rule/s affect.
