True, but blind Freddy can see they're already better than last year, and with all that talent, they will eventually improve further, sorry to say. Even if they win another spoon this year, I think they will climb in in the next few seasons.

Mick Warner, the journo who broke the Bombers story I think, was on 3aw this evening saying that more information from the notorious Demons tanking saga ( that apparently didn’t happen ) has come to light. Dean Bailey was told that they must not win more than four games. I remember that the Dees were fined some pathetic amount for bringing the game into disrepute, but the term “tanking” was never used.

Will be interesting to see what comes of this ten years after the fact, although in his words, he reckons it will all again be swept under the carpet.

That is serious stuff.

This reminds me of a long term dispute Plugger66, others and I had with some deadshit on SS about 5 years ago. Said deadshit was imploring the Saints to be "smart" and tank games for picks. Would go on and on, very passionate about cynically cheating the system, not a care for the potential damage caused to players or club.

Just look at the results of tanking years later. And for what? Scully, one of the two first draft picks they gained from ruining their reputation was eventually a really good player, but he left that club and its culture of failure ASAP.

For the people still think it's the smart logical thing to do, I hope this Demons saga proves a cautionary tale.
