Who said anything about a knock? All I heard Bucks say was a rib issue causing him trouble breathing. There was no other info about whether it was bruising, broken ribs or a (back) strain causing the pain. Either way it’s dubious that this supposed injury is real, because if he was having breathing issues he sure as hell wouldn’t be playing VFL...
It was reported that he copped a knock during the Melbourne game and failed to play out the game and it wouldn’t be the first time a player has tried to play through an injury. Now it’s come out he will probably miss because of a rib injury. Fair chance the two things are related

Now now
Dont waste a good conspiracy on logical thoughts.

Then why would he go from being one of the best in the first practice matches and then not play the next two? Especially when he was off late in that game, why would they make that up?

Have you not read the thread for the past 6 weeks??

All I’ll say is you don’t go from the most promising U21 on our list in a GF year, playing reasonable footy in the first praccy match, remaining in full training, playing a VFL praccy match in the week of JLT 2, declared fit by Pendles, then having some weird hamstringy neural thing according to Buckley and finally have a journo as respected as Jake Niall speculate on your training standards if there isn’t more to it.

I have no idea what the full story is, but T Brown isn’t/ wasn’t preferred due to an injury sustained in that first hit out so let’s put that to bed! As to why they would make it up? This isn’t directed at you, but rather the mushroom routine of clubs, who the **** knows. My guess is it’s in the players best interests! One things for sure his delayed start to the season, with the seniors, is not injury related.

It did for Richmond for 2 years.

I’m going to wager that one club in modern history being kissed on the preverbial as Richmond were through 17-18 isn’t repeating itself anytime soon. Injuries will come it’s a matter of when and who, but it’s how we deal with them that will define us!

FWIW I’ll be dancing in the streets if they don’t rear their head at some point!

Given the inconsistent narrative surrounding Sier over the past month, I’m pretty surprised anyone could actually think that the club is being forthright with this one...

About the only thing that hasnt been mentioned by the club so far is ponies. Its probably only a matter of time.

Maybe he has sired some ponies

Result: unicorns

Sier’s non-inclusion seems fairly straightforward. Your run-of-the-mill neural, rib injury exacerbated by one of the trainers applying too much ethanol during a rub down. Simple.

I too have had problems with ethanol induced rubbing but most of mine resulted in waking up at 4 pm with vague memories of biting someone of indeterminate gender on the knee.

I hope our bear has not been doing the same. Those teeth could cause serious damage.

Lot of people jumping at shadows on here but I'll join in and do the same. Surely if you're potentially not playing footy on the weekend because you have a breathing issue caused by ribs... you don't go paintballing.
It might be time for Sier to take out a restraining order against our board.

*cough* Stephenson (by far imo).

Rewind the clock 6 months ago and I was more excited by Sier. What he did in that last half of the season given his experience, role and average TOG was better than any midfielder we’ve had by age and experience since Buckley. League wide it’s on par with Bontempelli as the best since Selwood, IMO. I won’t try to convince anyone on the Stephenson bandwagon otherwise, but Sier was next level late season!

Timeline of the past month:

Practice match V Melbourne - Plays one half.

JLT 1 - doesn’t play.

JLT 2 - doesn’t play.

Article posted on the AFL website claiming that he had a “niggle”.

Bucks says he has some sort of weird injury. I can’t find a reference, but it was an unusual injury. I’m sure it was previously posted in this thread.

However, Pendles says he’s needs to work harder. No reference to injury.

He plays 2-3 VFL practice matches with this “injury”.

Now he’s sustained a rib injury, and will more than likely not take his place in the VFL team this weekend.

Yet, we have supporters on here who think the club is being completelyp
transparent.

Don’t get me wrong. He’s probably injured now, but would I be surprised if he lines up this weekend? Nope.

When there’s smoke...

They haven’t really mentioned anything about it now. A lot of people jumping at shadows here

The thread is just full of speculation, I am prepared to back him in. If he got hit in the ribs and he was having trouble breathing he may of tried to push through still a lot of blokes getting around with an old school attitude of it will be right. Either way if there is something going wrong off the field it’s up to the club to get it right, you don’t let players that talented go

Quite the contrary! I know it’s coming so no gauntlets here. There’s nothing more irritating, to me at least, than reading comments like “how awesome will it be when so and so is fit” or “so and so will replace so and so once fit”. It just never works that way and is the biggest trap supporters fall into. People like that are always looking toward the future rather than the 22 that take the field. If I had to give it a name I’d say it’s Carlton syndrome.

How did Adams replace Varcoe then?

This is a go nowhere discussion, but check out his post on Insta from 4 hrs ago and get back to me on the state of his “speculation”. The only point I can agree on is that you don’t let players this talented go except under extraordinary circumstances so let’s see how it plays out.

The match committee named him and omitted Varcoe. Or am I missing something like you have when I posted our good injury run won’t last forever?

Why would he be playing paintball if he's injured? Weird.
