Trade was fine. Pick 21 for Stanley and pick 60.

We used pick 21 on Hugh, they used pick 60 on Jordan (Who?) Cunico

Available at pick 21:

24 Jack Steele
26 Toby McLean
29 Touk Miller
34 Connor Blakeley
40 Alex Neal-Bullen
43 Mitch McGovern
46 Caleb Daniel
47 Cory Gregson
61 Harris Andrews

Trade was fine. Drafting was poor. Ah, well at least we got Steele in the end. And Lonie and MacKenzie might yet be something.

There is an argument for Hugh Goddard being cruelled by injury, which is fairly unforeseeable and random.

Paddy was the pick which earned Trout a ticket to Adrian Dildo's Dungeon, but 2014 wasn't a great haul.

Stanley was a nearly man, a glimpse of potential at the Saints. What I'm more annoyed about us why we have had such underwhelming ruckmen since Gardi and King left us. We need a decent ruck coach.
Don’t rate Ben McEvoy?

Steele and Andrews were both academy picks, so we couldn't have taken them anyway.
McLean, Miller or Blakely would have been good pick ups but we were all thrilled with picking up Goddard at the time.

I am glad trout is out of the joint he had a preference for good character..instead of a pure footballer

Well he's alright I suppose, but if you're talking about outstanding ruckmen then personally, I wouldn't put him in that category.

Yes he's been good for Hawthorn and they've won premierships with him, but they could have won premierships with a lot of different Ruckmen. I wouldn't say he was integral and he certainly wasn't for us (Maybe he would have been if we'd stuck with him, but we chose a different route).

Stanley and McEvoy probably reached about the same level at the Saints and we haven't had anyone since do better, which is damning enough.

We need a Grundy, Gawn or Goldstein. Even a Lycett or Preuss.

The drafting was fine. Goddard was curtailed by the single worst type of injury you can get as an athlete. Very few come back from complete achilles ruptures to genuinely compete again.

Thought I'd have a squiz over at SS after many years away.

Wowee. Very quiet there these days.
Was there a holocaust?
I go in there for a look but haven't posted for ages. Seems the rules are very strict which I don't mind, but has possibly made it all a bit sterile. Not enough posters. Quality iffy.

I was thinking a potential threat to everyone?
Yeah, they are I think.

They’ve changed their gameplan to a more pressure-based small-forward focused one. They jesttisoned a talented but lazy forward in Menzel, brought in Dalhaus from the Dogs and have a couple of young blokes that are also playing their part up forward with the pressure.

On top of the above, they also have a strong culture built over many years and a great home ground advantage.

Whether they can go all the way? There’s still a long way to go and they have failed in finals for a few years now... but they couldn’t have started any better so they look the best of anyone right now, considering their tough draw so far.

It’s a pretty impressive 3-0 start.

McEvoy is like Gawn compared to pruess. I think you are underestimating him. Of course it would great to have Grundy or Gawn but it’s not a nessecity matter of fact most premierships in the last 10 years have been won with average to good ruckmen. I think Marshall has potential to become a very good ruckman and cost us nothing. I don’t mean hit outs I mean effecting the game after the ball is bounced as most have done in the last 10 premierships

Andrews was actually bid on by Norf in the second round, but as we'd already matched a second round bid for Liam Dawson (now delisted) he only cost pick 61. Pretty lucky outcome of the old Academy bidding system, so no one really missed out on Harris though I don't think anyone expected him to be this good.

Still a stupid trade, when Trout was in charge it was like selling the car to take cash to the casino. Trading Mc Evoy and Stanley as young rucks while we didn't have equal players already on the list was pretty poor management regardless. We still haven't got a best 22 ruckman, as promising as Roma is.

Geelong did well with Cunico, he's talented but injury prone. They can turn shit into gold at the draft.

I think He did that becuase of the the duthie situation and the milne situation and the lovett situation and all the stupid things that happened.

Cats look they have finally got the balance right with danger, Kelly, duckwood and gaz.

Tim Kelly & Charlie Constable.

They are the ones who are transforming them in my opinion. It means they can push Selwood to a wing, Ablett to full time half forward and Dangerfield can play the middle and rest forward as well. Much better balance in their midfield rotations. We saw a bit of it last year with Kelly, but now that Constable has come on their midfield would probably rate best in the league and probably makes Stanley look much better than he is.

Luke Dahlhaus has been a really good get, and completes what is a very, very good forward line. Gryan Miers is a super good goal sneak (didn't he win a TAC cup GF off his own boot), Atkins is a forward tackling pressure machine. Blicavs as key defender has found new meaning in his life. No wonder they are super efficient with their conversion of inside 50's.

They will be very hard to beat this year. And it makes me want to spew.

Jordan Clark as well.

Ben McEvoy is like a McChicken. Gets the job done, but you're not quite satisfied.

Unlike our ruck vision who is more like street food in Thailand, after a run-in with it, you spend a few days in bed assessing your life choices.

They have some really good recruiting and development people.

Menegola, Stewart, Kelly and Blicavs that’s not a bad haul of mature age recruits. I hated the McEvoy and Stanley trades, neither one blew me out of the water and seemed to be poorly though out. McEvoy who was happy at the saints and a really solid marking big man would have definitely helped us win more games.

No tanking tanite... well from Dees anyway!

Essendope look like they already are but too arrogant to admit it.
