Unfortunately it's a winning based industry. No way will Bolton keep his job if we don't won more than two games this year.

Not for us at the moment. Although I’m sure we want wins and we will win more than 2 games. No issue

This is a long term rebuild. Still very much in development phase. The club is all on the same page. Bolton is a key part.

Unfortunately for many here he isn’t going anywhere. It doesn’t suit the chicken littles and short term thinkers but we are on the right path and have improved since last year and will keep improving

I really hope Kennedy plays. Cripps needs some help.

I don’t think I’ve ever felt for a player as much as I felt for Cripps yesterday. Watching him truly exhausted in the last with nothing left in the tank made me angry. Angry that he has been given no support and what it might mean for us in a coup,e of years.

It's a disaster from a PR point of view. Because if we finish bottom the media pressure will scrutinize the trade and it will cost the coach's job. That's just reality. We miss out of the first round pick. All we need is Crippa to get injured and the season will turn ugly really quick. You say we'll trade our first round that's all well and good however we'll have to convince the right player to want to come. We urgently need a ready made midfielder to help Cripps.

“We miss out of the first round pick”????

No we don’t.

We got Crows R1 Pick in return.

This is a must win, lose this and we could very well win the spoon.

Yes Bolton is a key part, he’s the key problem. By your reckoning we might just notch up 5 wins in 2021. An inability to score 100 points proves his tactics have failed; and the assistant coaching list is one of the weakest in the AFL. Winning is everything, this development phase you talk about is hogwash. Didn’t Silvagni talk about a 66 game reboot?? Losing becomes the norm, it means Carlton won’t be in the game for out of contract stars. No one will join a basket case. Lachie Neale joined Brisbane because he could see potential in a tangible sense, not in an airy fairy sense. Don’t tell me St Kilda have more talent on their list, yet they can win games under a mediocre head coach.

Improvement can only be gained with wins; achieving 6 wins this season should not have been a lofty target, but Bolton will fall well short.

How many losses will it take to realise patience and just thinking time will solve all matters doesn’t work? Sometimes you need to be ruthless, Bolton is a likeable person, but he’s not respected. His placid nature mirrors the team’s placid output.

Staying the course is not right if the course is off track. The only way this team will rise is by landing a big fish. So forget about development, and just think about doing whatever it takes to get a win. Development is not an excuse upon your fourth season as head coach.

This week, he should demand David Swallow be targeted, plenty of niggle, get into his ear. Gold Coast are weak, get the bigger bodies around the ball. Curnow, Cripps, Kennedy - I want to see players like Walsh being the cream on the cake this week. Carlton are poor at sticking tackles, a focus on that this week would be helpful.

If things aren’t working, simplify things. Tackle hard, bump hard, kick the ball long to a properly laid out forward line.

Do not care whom plays small pressure forward crumber next week, BUT, they need to bloody really contribute. Not only that, we need someone to step up, week in week out. I know it is not an easy role but ffs, got to find someone to make it their own. Over to you Polson, Gibbons, Garlett or LeBois. There is a role there for one of you if you can grab the opportunity. Right now, we not getting enough impact in games from you. Work harder and harder and harder. When you finished doing that, go again!!!!
Agree it’s between Garlett or I’d give Le Bois an opportunity he may respond, we need some luck. If not it’s Garlett.
Gibbons and Polson need a month in the 2nds at least.

We can't keep using the we're a young side excuse anymore. Effort and intent must be a non negotiable each and every game. If not you get dropped. Too many young players are being gifted games.

Which fit players are you going to replace Dow, Fisher and Setterfield with?

Reminds me of what we did to Judd.

Jarrod Garlett is dropped and asked to work on being less sloppy giving away free kicks....Garlett goes away and in his own time and whilst playing for the Ants works hard to improve on this...Garlett returns to senior team and becomes key player for the club and plays 250 games for the Navy Blues MAYBE without a single win. It could happen improving without a win. And developing as individuals and a collective MUST happen to move forward

I just want a few wins so we can be relevant again.

Sick of media idiots like Barrett, Cornes and co saying Carlton with a slight chuckle.

It's unbelievable that injuries are shaping our season yet again.

Bolton seemed really concerned under his comments at the post match presser v Sydney. He wasn't happy at all and rightly so.

This game is as big a must win as I've known in a while. Given the 66 game rebuild, the journey and everything else we've been sold, we popped our popcorn and settled in for what was expected to be an exciting season.
The Ratten years gave us something before he was dumped. Malthouse we all despised and we were relieved when he left. Those losses were almost a guilty pleasure as we knew they facilitated his demise.

Things are different now. We've been practising our Carlton swagger in the mirror and are desperate to show it off.

Pick a ruthless side and crush GC.

Please.

The problem with the Sydney game is that apart from Harry our 2-3 year players were generally poor. We certainly can't rely on Ed to kick 4 goals each week as a winning formula.

Carlton will not consistently win games against other teams by being a slightly (1-2 goal) better side. There are too many uncontrollables that can affect the result (e.g. injuries, umpiring decisions, lucky goals etc). Carlton needs to have the mindset of being a minimum 4-5 goal better side.

let's go into the game against the Suns looking to monster them, rather than just complete on an equal footing. I want to see manic pressure from the youngsters when the Suns have the ball.

To that end, Carlton needs to bring in pressure type players, e.g. SOS, Kennedy, Schumacher/Williamson, even Stocker. Encourage the whole side to attack the contest and apply physical pressure to the opposition at every opportunity.

How do you 'win a spoon'

Haven't seen any on display around the Club.

You know what I mean Aph, either way, finishing last this year would be an extremely bitter pill to swallow given we traded our first last year. As such I consider this a must win.

Simmo needs to hit some form, not sure we can carry his weaknesses much longer.
Wow, writing him off already are we?

This guy bleeds blue and should've been captain instead of Judd IMO. He always has those couple of games at the start of the year where it's slow going but he'll be his super consistent self. Who are you going to replace him with? A kid who won't put their body on the line half as much?

I'm feeling increasingly disengaged from the game. 20 years of excuses: we'll get Pagan, we'll get three #1 picks, we'll get Judd, we'll get Malthouse, we'll get one of those clever Hawthorn assistant coaches, we'll hoover up any broken down hack in the game as long as they were drafted in the first round.

In those 20 years I put money into the club, and I wore insults from all and sundry. But that's stopped. About five years ago I stopped arguing and started agreeing with everyone who insulted Carlton, because they were right. We are a joke of a club. I also stopped putting money into the club, and I won't put another cent into it until we start having a continued run of success, i.e. meaningful finals for a sustained period, not just getting a final because ******** fell on a needle in the shower. (Although beating Richmond from 9th is my favourite footy moment of the past decade.)

If we lose this weekend, I'm done for the year. There is so much more to life than footy. If you are also feeling a little worn down (given that it's not normal to feel like that about a footy club three rounds into a season), then I'd suggest taking a break for the year as well. You won't miss much, I'd wager; we'll still be just as awful next year.

So you will jump back on the bandwagon once we start winning regularly, yes?

So he should be an automatic selection because he should have been captain 7 years ago?

Willo is the future, of course there might be a few before Simmo, but he's always had his weaknesses and if he's not racking up touches he doesn't offer much else.

Fwiw, I think he would have been a poor choice as captain, but that's so far in the past it's not even worth thinking about.
