At last some common sense. Yes of course the dogs are rubbish. At the bottom of the slope they climbed up now. Gold coast have a lot of young players around 3-5 seasons in. Mostly not as talented as our young ones I feel. But good enough against poor sides on the day.
I don’t get this.....the dogs have beaten Hawthorn and Sydney and yet we think them rubbish!....same goes for GC. We can’t keep saying we have the better list than these teams and our coach is as good and to date, continue to lose consistently. I am desperate to win next week but if we continue to go through the year losing and we think our list is better than these teams then there is a problem somewhere isn’t there?

Tell me about it Soapy, its gotten so bad around here recently. I'm considering not posting or coming on here anymore.

Keep using the Block button and stay on the Positive thread. Works for me

If people keep looking for the negative they will always find it.

Overall I think the club is doing very well [emoji106]

Yeah me too mate, first time in a long time it looks like the club has a direction and plan to reach it.
Stay the path and results will come. Besides, I like watching the young guys give it their all week in, week out.

What I did like yesterday is we kept coming and the kids had a real crack at the end. We didn’t get the result and we need to do it for 4 quarters but lots of good was on display. So far we haven’t given up

Could have easily packed it in when we were 31 points down but we fought back, unfortunately we kicked 4.6 to 3 goals from that point

Well I can say Footscray are rubbish cos it suits me. Post match is a lot of argybargy. It will settle down again by midweek and we can be more serious, At this stage after a game its either laugh or cry so I choose to laugh. And honestly some of what gets written here is only good for a laugh.
We have talent. And I hope that turns into a juggernaut. Thats all I will say at this stage

Funnily enough twice in the match I said ok I give up. But the team didnt ..they get back on their bikes and give new hope. Truth is that is becoming a trend and its stands to reason that the next stage is the win. But I am long past thinking about a win being as important as the manner in which it comes. I see big wins not so far away. Not clawing a two point win or similar then going under again the next week.

The highlight of the season is that whilst we have been repeatedly violated we haven’t completely bent over; yet.

I fear we will fall off the cliff soon and a hundred point shellacking is just around the corner.

And this is part of the reason why we can’t win games, I love Simmons’s contributions over the years just as much as anyone, same as I love Murphy’s or Ed etc etc.
But this damn ******* mentality of players deserving games because of what they have given to the club in the past is why we are a below mediocre team and continue to lose.

The only criteria to whether a player gets a game is how they performed in the couple previous games.
You want to be the best club in the league then you start adopting a ruthless mentality, don’t let any player get comfortable with there spot so that they are driven each and every game to play their best to keep their spot.

Unfortunately, our Current win/loss records reflects the comfortableness that both senior players and supporters have with ‘honourable losses’.
No it's not. Keeping Simpson in the side is not detrimental to the team, and even if he was we have no one to replace him with at the moment. You don't just dump champions after a couple of bad games, especially if you can't replace them. And unlike Murphy and Ed, Simmo has been super consistent throughout the last several years. You think he's not driven and trying his hardest? He'd be the last person on our list who'd I'd accuse of having such a "comfortable" mentality. You are being premature and drawing long bows. There's nothing "ruthless" about dropping an experienced player who has a bigger ballsack than most of this team mates... it is counter productive. We are not on the cusp of a premiership here where his form might make the difference between winning and losing one, we're a team that's devoid of confidence who hasn't gelled yet. Replacing him with some fresh kid who's not ready yet is going to do more harm than good.

You look at the great Brisbane teams of 02-04, they had some underperforming players in there too but were kept in because they either had mongrel or leadership qualities. Simpson isn't some kind of fringe player you can just easily replace and forget about. He's as vital as ever since Doc is out... so please spare me the nonsense of "ruthlessless" and "one of the reasons we can't win games" because it's just hot air. It's not as simple as that.

I’m the opposite. I see us building and a win is close. If we can get some players back even better.

There will be good days and bad this year but we are definitely building

No, he shouldn't get an automatic start.
And who are you going to replace him with? Garlett?

Please.

Same bunch of clueless people who bagged Simpson last year because he had a couple of dry games like this. Would you say the same with Cripps if he underperformed (heaven forbid)? No, I'm sure you wouldn't. Simpson is a required player and important to our lineup... he'll get through his rough patch, like he always has. Like all champions have.

It would be nice to not get completely smashed in the ruck this week. The rest is simply shuffling deck chairs on the Titanic. I’d like to see SOS have a run though.

When has Ed kicked 4 goals before?

Seems you are a bit touchy on the subject, don’t like being proved wrong?

So when someone offers some facts to your 'opine' - they are "being touchy" are they? Grow up.

GC 2-1 (stiff not to 3-0) and looking pretty sharp, Blues 0-3 playing away against the Suns, no reason to fear the worst though eh.
Have a closer look at the GC results...not far off being 0 - 3.
I do not discredit their wins but they can be considered a little lucky.
If they had played the 3 teams (despite current ladder positions I feel we’ve been up against tougher opposition) we’ve played and were 2 - 1 I would have a more worried view of this game.
I’m currently at 50/50 for this Saturday and will have a harder think when teams are announced.
Optimistic I know but I watched us beat them in the flesh last year and feel this years blues squad is better than what ran out that night.
GC have a run on...just, it will slow down for them...is it this week...hopefully :p

Jsos in for Plowman. Can't be any slower and has more smarts and seems more intense and though the game means something to him.
Krueze in if fit, if not a return to Flip, who did more in his two games than Lobbe.
Polson can't remain after that performance and I'd be tempted to bring in Garlett to replace
Cuningham(please be fit) in for Gibbons. Having said that though I like the idea of trying Gibbons in the middle.
Fish to play forward with rotating stints on ball.
Ed is required in the middle. That keeps Matt Kennedy out. Ed can rest in the forward line.
Marc Murph needs to take his turn in the middle as well.
The midfield group in general needs to really improve their two way running. This is our biggest weakness along with lapses in intensity.
With consistency of effort, some better composure and better decision making we would improve dramatically.

Is Sam Fisher at the Northern Blues a small forward?
