Haven’t posted much this season, but I will say this. The whole side should be sat down and shown the efforts of 3 players yesterday.

Cripps - working through the opposition and finding a way to impact the game
Walsh - 2 way running and desire to impact each contest
Weitering - positioning positioning positioning

Not to take away from any of the other players, but these 3 showed the smarts, willpower and physicality that it takes to be a consistent player. We have too many who do some nice things and then disappear, too many who try to do the smart thing but not the physical thing and too many who do the individual thing.

As for the Bolton debate, it’s one for another day (CBF) but I think it could be a case of him being the right man to get us this point, but in order for us to improve he needs to change his way and be developed, the answer isn’t to sack him with out turning over every stone to support him.

In short, review him now, put the writing on the wall, but give him the best chance to succeed and improve.

They havent said that . Bolton has said we are desperate for a win. I hope that they play that way this week.

I know exactly what was said, so when a new poster, points to so called facts that don't exist, they will get called on it

I had a mental breakdown yesterday and got a day off LOL.

The thing that set me off - apart from the loss - was Bolton saying in the press conference that going fast is the worst thing you can do. I'm not sure if he understands that the rules have changed and getting it in quick is the way to go now. I mean how can anyone think going fast is the worst thing you can do?

We will never score 100 points again and if thats the way he thinks I'm not surprised.

edit.....We have one of the most talented young lists going around, why not let them play footy? Crazy to me.
Gold Coast are behind us but they have improved out of site

I told you previously, only interested in discussing the progress of the gameplan with you.

Easy to post throw away lines that we don't have one, when you have little to no idea of the starting point

Wtf, I’ve answered every question you’ve asked me in relation to what I see as the game plan, you don’t like the answers that’s not my fault.

And yet, not once have you offered up any specific defence or explanation of the game plan as you see it, always just falling back on the argument of ‘progress’

So I then asked you what yardstick you measure progress against, and you avoid the question. Lol

Cripps is a freak and two years further along than all the other midfielders..easy to forget that.
The answer is time. And hopefully not much more of it. When they make better decisions and stick the kicks and shots for goal suddenly Bolton will not be a problem.

Gameplan

Bolton added more attacking layers than the 1st 2 year, agreed?

Hahaha, when they run out of arguments defending Bolton, they always fall back on the condescending remarks

If Bolton was replaced, who would replace him?

Would they want a list rebuild? If so, how long would that take? Added, does it guarantee the success you’re looking for?

Bolton’s in his 4th year. Bomber Thompson took far longer to get success at the Cats, same with Hardwick at Richmond and even Clarkson at hawks.

The team is frustrating, but they are improving.

Added, we’ve sacked a number of coaches in recent years, and we still ain’t playing finals. Maybe - just maybe - the issue isn’t the coach.

Still need to stick fat.

Pretty sure he was speaking about playing too fast. In the sense of a contrast to composure. In the sense of quickness of mind to do the best thing rather than the first thing in certain situations. And he is exactly right.

No the majority of the thoughtful posters on here would like the record to be changed instead of the awful noise

So you can dominate yet another thread with the ‘patience’ ‘We are rebuilding’ ‘need time to gel’ ‘progress’ blah blah blah arguments that posters like you try to silence anyone critical of our performances with?

Was Dows disposal the thing that lost us the game? Not entirely but HS just put up champion Data “ worst Kicks in the AFL” .....Dow number 2
Kicking efficiency by round
1. 37%
2. 57%
3. 54%
4. 28%

Bloody horrible numbers....big investment this boy and already a big problem

I disagree if that was what he was saying too, but I watched the press conference and the context he used it in as the same as the example I gave

If you call going along the boundary nearly 100% of the time as more attacking than short chip kicks sideways and backwards like the first 2 years, thennyes you are right.

Is it anywhere near as attacking as that first quarter against Richmond last year?

Has to be one of the most entertaining periods I have seen on this board, newbies passing themselves off as concerned supporters, what an oxymoron

what does the time you discovered this board have to do with whether you are a concerned supporter or not? strange way of looking at things

I agree Bolts has adapted because last year and the year before he directed the team to go through the guts and even trialled in the JLT this year but the troops are not quite that advanced. Looked great when it came off but hurt the shit out of us on the turnover.

So a need to play defensive style game. We have 4 HUGE, altheletic, marking talls …. why not try to exploit an apparantly dying gameplan of boundary line meteres?? Harry took some monster one on ones on the wing.

Seemed feasible to me.

Again I say the defensive portion of the game was won in spades. Jones, Weiters, Marchy, Daisy, Simmo and Plow all contributed to keep the score under 60 points.

Bolts needs this to work every week, to hone the forward of centre offensive play, because if he can't rely on these back 6 holding the fort, yet again the turnovers hurt.

Stoppage setups are a huge concern for me, way to defensive.

Its a chess game in progress, but when it clicks and the players learn to win …. those games will be won. Period.

Now comparing us to other sides...

Stay focused

So our evolving gameplan last year was going along the boundary line?

I don't understand - why does it matter how long someone is a member here for? Genuinely curious.
Nope - it was definitely you.

You have said nothing about Carlton since I have been here and focused purely on attacking people for not being here as long as you and therefore do not have as much "virtual" credibility.

Been here a decade and a half longer than you by the way. Haven't posted in three years out of sheer depression at my club + self imposed ban - new computer had to sign up again.
Yep, think they're trying to get an official membership in 'the clique'.

Do you really think a handful of new posters, that present themselves in the same day/week are those of concerned supporters?

So you want them doing what they do now?.. kick without looking....in the wrong direction....against the coaches wishes for them to be clever and quick but not so fast they have no control. Thats why we lost. No composure. I've been saying it for a long time. So good to hear the coach now start to put that pressure on his charges.
