Got a sneaking suspicion that, if he moves, he'll be tossing up between a family reunion at Melbourne, or an irresponsibly large contract from St Kilda.
Reunion seems a bit odd, Nathan will probably be done by the end of next year anyway.

For any of the South Aussies here, how is Aidyn Johnson playing in the SANFL? His highlights stand out but he's never really retained his spot when given a chance at the AFL. His physical attributes suit what we're looking for in the forward line though.

Thoughts?

What do we think of bailey Williams or Patrick lipinski. One running defender and one natural medium forward. Both would suit our needs and both not getting games at dogs despite performing very well in the VFL.

Williams is a consideration, no thanks Lipinski, butchers the ball more than our own

Not sure Greenwood remains in the SANFL too long. He's a genuinely handy player. Would take him in a flash if he was available but I don't think he will be. He's an inside mid, mostly, but he's very athletic, has good hands, tackles well and is a handy forward rotation. Good defense-first mid with more hurt factor than your traditional tagger.

Sier feels a bit too same-same with Cripps, Kennedy and Setterfield. Don't think he's shown any particular aptitude for a second position, either.
He racked up 30 on the weekend plus two goals playing the same side as Gibbs who got 28 and 0. Will they leave Gibbs out another week. Lol.

I reckon that's a great suggestion.

He can play. Port are clearly committing to Rozee and Butters.

Our lack of small forwards on the list really shows when gibbons is persisted with and we don't even have another proper small...the other is ed who is another mid we trying to turn into a forward.

Coaches are.hamstrung a bit there...its SOS responsibility to fix that area.
Cory Gregson

Adam Tipungwuti. Seemed to be pretty well regarded in NT league, small but in highlights seems to know to get front and centre of a pack. We would kill for his cousin, so with a look at least?

great to see young Jack back

want to see him run in the middle and get a couple of clearances. Pagan in a campaigner, I never wanted him. He was past it once we got him. Hated to play young players that didn't do a few years in a VFL. A dinosaur when he got to us, at the most important time to modernise. Hurt us going forward for years.

True that. If ever a coach was succesful despite himself its Pagan. The players made him look good. One in particular.
That was the time we could have gone off in a new direction if only Elliot was gone sooner.

Cutler identified as a possible good fit for Carlton. Have to agree - I flagged him as one to watch a while back. Good size, can play down back or in the middle. Good age for us as well, same draft as Cripps. Goes at around 2:1 kick to handball ratio, takes plenty of marks, finds a decent amount of ball, uses it pretty well. Versatility is a good thing with the midfield we're putting together, and I reckon this bloke would complement us nicely. Bit of a Tomlinson type utility, gives away some height and running power (Tomlinson is a freak there though), for more strength around the stoppages.

Docherty, Jones, Plowman
Marchbank, Weitering, Williamson
Cutler, Setterfield, Walsh
Kreuzer, Cripps, SPS
Fisher, Curnow, Cuningham
Thomas, McKay, McGovern
I/C from: Curnow, Murphy, Dow, O'Brien, Kennedy, Newman, Stocker, Silvagni, Polson, Garlett, Fasolo, Pickett

Cutler drafted with the pick we gave up for Docherty...

I'd love to pick Sier up. Showed HEAPS last year in a grand final quality side. Setters and kennedy might become the players we need them to be but they might not, we've got plenty of worse players than sier on the list

We have zero need to be spending any time and assets on Sier when we have those 2 you mentioned, plus Cripps.
Dow and Stocker also in future.

Sier hasn't shown much so far and I keep reading he has attitude and professionalism issues. No thanks.

Can we clone Samo? One off the half back flank for precision delivery into the middle. And another Samo in the centre for precision delivery into the forward line.
What a difference a decent preseason can make. End of last year there were questions as to the value of just one SPS. Good on him.

Jamie Elliott is one I’d be looking at, would add a lot to our forward line as a quick, tackling/pressure, marking player and a fa to boot.

Then I’d look at Shai Bolton for the traditional forward pocket goal sneak.

Then I’d have a nibble at Jayden Hunt as the quick, lockdown bp/hbf.

None of those will cost the earth, and then you have your high draft picks to raid a gun midfielder or take to the draft.

Got to give Brions their due. Their recruiting is first class, even when their retention wasn't. Schache is about the only miss, and understandable at that.

I wouldn’t go too far. They’ve picked aggressive front running players. They’ve got no real defensive midfielders. Well that was atleast apparently last night.

If we finish last, which I am still hoping won’t happen but what is The highest ladder position that Adelaide can finish in for the stocker trade not to be considered a fail?

Right now Stocker has not shown anything so I will take his value as his draft pick.. I would say we would still need a top 3 pick to not be a fail & a top 5 pick for it to not be a total disaster, Picks 5 & 19 for pick 1..

We really need a separate thread for this, as it has been discussed to death. Any many of us would be sick of it continuing to come back up for discussion.
