Garry Lyon ripped into the Bont today. Said he and other leaders needed to show more leadership when Cripps and the other bloke were ripping us a new one. Need to be more vocal when things are not going well, make changes, lacking a defensive side to the game.

Anything to deflect from the Dees. There were about 15 blokes who deserved a spray. Bont wasn't one of them.

Would've been nice if i had that opportunity when I was a kid. Guess i get nothing for being a good boy

The Minson/Eade audio on Facebook is the best thing I’ve heard all year.

TBH I found it incredibly depressing. If that sort of nonsense was going on in the box in the heat of prelim - it's no wonder we didn't do any better.

You can see why he didn’t work at Gold Coast. That type of coaching and personality just doesn’t work on today’s players.

The Bulldogs didn't land a big fish but added premiership Hawks defender Taylor Duryea, crafty Tigers forward Sam Lloyd and went into the draft with three picks in the top 32.

Sam Lloyd: The 29-year-old was exchanged for pick No.64 and in the short term it has looked a savvy investment. Lloyd has played all five games, kicking multiple goals three times and has consistently been a contributor at half-forward. He had an instant impact in round one, kicking a vital fourth-quarter goal in a tight win against Sydney at Marvel Stadium and accumulated 22 disposals – the second-most in his 62-game career.

Who else has played? Duryea has been reliable in the back half before missing out through injury on the weekend. Prized draftee Bailey Smith has played every game and looks the part. Rookie selection Lachie Young and former VFL player Will Hayes both made their debuts against Carlton, the latter particularly impressive early in the game.

Yet to play: Ben Cavarra, Jordan Sweet, Rhylee West, Laitham Vandermeer

Two Bulldogs to miss chunks of football

By Michael Gleeson

April 23, 2019 — 7.33pm

Western Bulldogs pair Matt Suckling and Taylor Duryea have both been ruled out in the medium term with Duryea to miss up to two months and Suckling a month with injuries.
Duryea who was a late withdrawal from the Carlton match, will miss the next 6-8 weeks due to his hip injury while Suckling will miss 2-4 weeks with a groin injury.
The club’s medical services manager Chris Bell said Duryea will avoid surgery but the damage to his hip bone when he hyperflexed it during the Collingwood game would require a longer recovery time to let the bone heal.
“During the third quarter in the round four game against Collingwood, Taylor Duryea went to suddenly stop and has jammed his hip into hyperflexion,” Bell told club's website.
“This has caused damage to the bone of the back part of his hip joint. We will manage Taylor without surgery, but we do need to allow 6-8 weeks for the bone to heal.”

Scans meanwhile confirmed Suckling will miss up to a month after he injured his adductor groin muscle during training last week.

I agree. Can’t believe an adult could carry on like that,

Much and all as I laughed my ass of hearing that it seems that Leon Cameron was the only one doing any actual coaching and game day moves. Rocket sounded unhinged...a total liability in the box. It is a small clip so probably not representative of how Rocket normally coached.

Yep, at a base level, it's funny, but at a practical, professional level, 'unhinged' is being kind. How did he make any rational moves in that game, or even address the players in a rational way between quarters? I wonder what he actually said at quarter breaks, specifically to Minson, or if he just ignored him. Maybe Cameron should have been appointed at the end of 2011, and Eade moved on, but hindsight is a wonderful thing. (I'm assuming 'Willo' is Paul Williams?)

Also TMoney22, I agree, wonder how it got into a public domain, and who actually recorded it in the first place.
(Cameron's voice sounds like it's closest to the recording device, Eade slightly further away, Willo further again. Hmmm.)

Finally, while obviously only a snapshot, it doesn't do Eade any favours, while showing Cameron in a positive light. Hmmm.

Not sure what he would gain by deliberately releasing. RE is only coaching at local level...he has been very quiet lately and I only saw him pop up with Mike Sheahan last night.

Yeah, I just wandered aimlessly off on a conspiracy tangent. And it may well have been somewhere in the public domain for a while ,and just got picked up recently, who knows. Also, if it wasn't Leon recording it, might have been a stats guy or another assistant sitting next to Leon, as his voice is certainly the clearest. Wonder who was in the box for that game?

Wouldn’t surprise me if that recording may have been used in discussions to oust Eade at the time of his sacking. I think that our sh*tful performance should have done the job of getting him fired anyway.
