When the player is Darcy Parish, the answer is yes.

I'm fairly confident he'll do what Jack Billings has done this season. There will be a point where everything clicks for him and he'll be considered an A grade midfielder.

If Essendon trade him, they'll regret it.

Essendon will regret using such a high pick on a player they get a third rounder for.
It's not that he's a bad footballer more just that he has no traits at all that are out of the ordinary.
We joke about vanilla but if you look it up in the dictionary (might need explaining to some of our younger posters) you will see a picture of Darcy looking like a young Monty Burns.

Tiggs have a pretty good record of supporting players seeking opportunities elsewhere who aren't getting a regular spot. You'd imagine a 3rd rounder would just about do the deal, with maybe a bit of shuffling of lower picks.

Could only see Fremantle being an option for him if he wanted to play back home, WestCoast are really well covered for small and medium forwards with Ryan Cripps Rioli Petruccelli and Venables all ahead of him, no doubt he'd see with us a big opportunity to play more regularly possibly a real heart vs career decision for him

Can’t get them all right, let’s be happy that sos gets the important ones right.

Hindsight drafting? Why? Do you believe parish & Francis are better? As I dont & wouldn’t have taken either. Not sure what your point is there.
Im primarily concerned with our rookie drafting , which imo has not been great.

Respectfully disagree! He’s a one boring one paced mid with no tricks.Honestly, being serious, I’ve seen better mids in the VAFA and VFL.

I’m probably dreaming but if we could trade a future 3rd for Bolton, our 1st this year for Jack Martin,then offer Coniglio pretty much whatever he wants to get him over the line the balance of our side would look a hell of a lot better for next year

Not sure I would call it hindsight drafting as his talent was well known. For me, I would have thought that's exactly the type of player you target in the rookie draft or equivalent. Even more of a no brainer when his type is exactly what we need. Reports of his work ethic since arriving would suggest all clubs got it very wrong regarding any character assessment.

Being passed up by every club at the draft could have been a rude awakening for him to kick him into gear.

Had he been taken in the national draft, his attitude could have been different.

Last year we added Walsh, stocker, Ben silvagni, Mitch McGovern, will setterfield, newman, fasolo, owies, gibbons and cottrell to our list. There will be some we miss. Pretty happy with the ones we got.

We took a chance on Setters who had 2 knee reco's in two years, we took a chance on a VFL player who was overlooked time and time again, we took a chance on Finbar who only played 3 TAC games in two years, we took a chance trading 1st round picks with the Cows.
Stack was a player who would have been a high draft pick if he didn't stuff up off field...maybe we just ran out of chances.

We saw on the weekend the precise reason we should be targetting 1 of 2 players. Lachie Whitfield, or Josh Kelly. If we have the ball being delivered to our forwards like on the weekend consistently, we would be playing finals. We have a lot of very ordinary kicks in the side, whether that be because of age, youth, confidence or ability. Those two blokes are absolutely Elite inside 50 kicks, Whitfield could just about serve me my dinner with his deliveries by foot. We have ball winners for years to come with stocker, kennedy, dow and setterfield developing under cripps... we have tall forwards, we have defenders of all shapes and sizes... but we have 1 BLOKE who i genuinely trust to deliver the ball inside 50, Samo. Walsh will no doubt be one too, at his rate of development who knows when, could be next week with this bloke.

Whitfield is possibly the best kick in the comp at this stage, and Kelly has been hampered by injury, but his 2017 form will forever go down to show at his best he may just be the most damaging kick in the game. And even better, both are absolutely elite runners and can win the ball themselves.

Our best game in probably 3 years, just so happened to be the day that Samo had 35 touches delivering absolute gems all over the ground, and if we had 1 or 2 more of him consistently playing like he did on the weekend, we would be having 20 marks inside 50 a game. Walsh will no doubt end up being absolute class on the inside and out, but if we had 3 players that could deliver inside 50 and win their own ball, we would dominate.

We basically have the 2nd coming of Jesus in Cripps, sent to save this club from mediocrity. But when you have the best contested animal in the comp you need to surround him with blokes to dish it out to, he had 32 handballs on the weekend, and arguably tore the bulldogs a new one with 83 metres gained in 37 touches... If you surround him with elite users of the ball, theres no knowing how good we could be. Right now we don't have consistent users aside from Samo who doesn't find the ball enough at this stage, and Cripps ends up trying to improvise and break lines and deliver it himself, which is not viable when he's got 3 blokes hanging off him at stoppages. Someone like Kelly commands attention at a stoppage which relieves pressure on Cripps, and if he gets into space he destroys teams for fun. Whitfield is more of an outside player, but hes just stupidly good at kicking footballs. These two should be at the absolute top of every supporters list.

We also need a small frwd... but really we can go to the draft and pick up a young fella, they may not end up elite but we just need some pressure down there with some goal sense, also clubs like richmond and the saints have plenty laying around. Plenty of the best small forwards in the game came from well outside the first round of the draft and can help lock the ball in.

Hindsight drafting is easy and trading is easy, any muppet can do it. Show me a list manager that has nailed every pick, every rookie and every trade.
I for one have been ecstatic with the job he’s done, all we need now is lots of luck and hopefully the stars align for a flag or two.

We had gaps to fill that are still clearly there today and we haven't even tried to fill them at worst, via the rookie draft.
I know I've said this many times over, but isn't it clear that this is the case and isn't it clear that no defence stands up?

Yes, Stack is someone we could have done with, but even take that name out of the equation, where has our willingness been in trying to find speedy players and goal-kickers. It's about types and in the past two years, we've completely ignored them for the sake of recycled players that have come to naught.

Why is LeBois still on the list three years later, even after showing next to nothing and being inured for a large part of the time? Why? It's because he's a type we could do with, so what's happened in the past two years for us to go the path we've taken via DFA's and Rookies? Experience for the sake of experience doesn't count, when one doesn't really want to put in as was the case with some of those guys who were ousted after one year on the roster.

There may be a reason for it, but I can't see how it could possibly be a good one...and please; None of this 'we can't do everything in only a few years' stuff.
If that's the argument, one's missed the point.

Pickett fit and reaching his potential makes a big difference

Players I hope we get/chase are Ed Langdon, Menegola, Papley, Martin or Ainsworth. Atley or Drew from Port. Gallucci at Crows. Ned McHenry would be perfect if we could get him. Lewis Taylor may be able to be got cheap

Jeremy Goddard from Claremont I would look as a Ruck. I am also a fan of Sam Fisher & Mason Blakey

Still get a few draftees but IMO it's time to add some ready to go players

Papley and Gresham are high on the wish list for mine but gettable? I’m not sure.

If Pickett got himself fit I would love to see him given a crack. If!

Can’t remember where I read it (probably here tbh) but wasn’t someone saying Ainsworth had purchased all the tickets that were available on himself? As in tickettek was sold out. Forever.

Not my opinion of him though, I think he could be solid.

I remember you being the first to draw attention to the all new Liam Jones morphing in the reserves a few seasons ago so your comments this week re the young Collingwood reserves ruckman pricked my interest.
It seems others in attendance at the reserves last week also noticed the performance of Max Lynch, no doubt our recruiting staff also took note and he appears to tick a lot of boxes of need for Carlton.
As this season is his last contracted rookie year at the woods , how and what do you see as being needed to lure him to Princes Park ?

Let’s be happy and rejoice in the fact that we have a list manager with lots of skin in the game. Carlton is in his blood, his boys have a locker to call their own, nobody wants to succeed more than him not even Bolton. I saw Sos in the rooms after the game and as hard as he tried he couldn’t hide the pride,it wa all over his face and body language. He quietly poked his head out of the meeting room to watch the boys sing the song,he was pumped in that quiet sos sort of way.
He’s killed every draft and with little ammunition,Hendo, Zac,Gibbs,Bell, Menzel,Yarran were all he had to deal with and look what he’s turned it into.
How would you like to be * Parish and Francis from the 2015 draft with picks 5&6 when Sos lands Harry and Charlie with picks 10&12.....this is history making stuff think Tambling & Deledio v Roughead and Buddy.
He won’t get them all right but fmd he’s a triple Brownlow medallist of trading.
