I would think the lead-up vignettes, the use of the chainsaw, and the commentator's reaction to all of it, would make it pretty obvious that he's not "playing it straight" as a whitemeat babyface that has changed his ways.

Yeah I totally agree. I just noticed a lot of negative feedback on social media after the vignette, in regards to burying his character more. But obviously as I said, I’m excited by the possible complexity of the character and hope the WWE has the patience and is actually capable of exploring all of its potential

Not normally one to knock the womens division, but this looks horrible

These contracts should be illegal. And I think they are if you're brave and willing enough to spend a small fortune in court against WWE who you still may want to work for in the future. Rey Mysterio had a problem like this where a run of injuries meant he was still in WWE years after the contract would've originally finished.

Yet they don’t pay insurance. So the wrestlers are sitting at home not getting paid, while the recuperate and then come back to find that they have x amount of extra time added to their contract. You can understand why previous wrestlers have sued the WWE for past injuries. Bloody Hogan on ratting on Ventura when he tried to get a union going.

Well, they do still receive pay when injured. It's not the same as what they get when they're working, but that's the terms of their agreement, and they know this going in.

Indy workers get nothing if they miss dates due to injury. They don't get any healthcare plan unless they pay for their own insurance, either.

You say WWE wrestlers, individually, have power. When pointed out they really don't you say "Well, it's always been like this anyway". Why not go to straight to it's always been like this anyway insteading of misrepresentating things first.

Where did I claim the wrestlers are in a position of power in this situation, or in general?

Despite what some may believe, WWE isn't a monopoly, and isn't the entire wrestling business. WWE, even before largely guaranteed contracts, have always given injured performers some sort of base pay. This isn't the norm in the indies, and never has been.

Nobody has ever offered health care as a "standard" benefit in the wrestling business, however WWE does now have the Performance Centre, with doctors, physios and trainers on hand to diagnose, treat and rehabilitate injuries, as well as an established network of contacts and specialists who can assist with surgeries and rehab as well (leading surgeons like Dr Lloyd Youngblood and Dr James Andrews have helped many WWE stars over the years, along with a host of athletes from other sports). It would make sense for WWE to subsedise some or all of the costs if the injury occurs in their rings. I can't confirm if this is definitely the case, but it sounds logical and I've never heard otherwise (I'm sure plenty of current and ex-employees would have grumbled if they had to pay for all medical treatment they received). The facilities and access to treatment alone (before the cost) is all far and away more than what an indy worker gets, as they need to figure it out on their own time and their own dime.
