Probably for the best. Otherwise it'd be shades of Jarrod Molloy in the 2002 GF.
 
I just can't see that he would be eligible to play again at AFL level this year (not sure about VFL level even - given he was placed on the Inactive List), and wonder if whoever wrote this simply isn't aware of that?: Injury Report: Round 23

Just read it as it sounds - he will be in good enough condition (hopefully) to play, doesn't necessarily mean he can play.

That's most likely all it is, though people here seem to be getting their hopes up about his playing again this season!

Krueger was placed on the inactive list allowing us to recruit Carmichael in the MSD. To put a player on the inactive list they can't play for the rest of the year.

If he can prove his fitness and you want to play him back, it allows Maynard to play on ball. Only question is, how is the kicking? We can’t afford to have a poor kick coming out of the backline.

Playing him forward will give us a more functional and finals relevant forward line.

There's no reason whatsoever to believe he's allowed to play again in 2022 (at AFL level, and probably even VFL level) since he was placed on the Inactive List months ago, and when players are placed on that list they aren't meant to be eligible to play for the rest of the season (no matter how fit they get themselves)!

I think it would be more than just a fine if we played a player who was ruled ineligible to play, pablo!! Players who go on the Inactive List don't play again that year, so unless there's something extraordinary going on Kreuger can't play in 2022! Roughead retiring gave us the option of taking two players in the mid-season draft, but we (quite sensibly) only added the one player to our list in Carmichael. I don't think there was any poor management by us there at all, as we were never going to take a second player just for the sake of it.
