Chaps..you are looking at the best side in the comp put their foot on the throat of a quality top 8 side. Our efforts against them this year are not to be sniffed at
We need to make our efforts count on Sunday.

You don't get a medallion for thatsquad member
Exactly what I was thinkingYou don't get a medallion for that
I know most will disagree on this, but I believe you deserve a medal for having played a part in the season if you played in any game, should your team win the flag. You don't get a medallion for that
You actually don’t feel part unless you play, understand your thinking behind it, it’s a token gesture that has little meaningI know most will disagree on this, but I believe you deserve a medal for having played a part in the season if you played in any game, should your team win the flag.
Im not saying it needs to be done on GF day, but Clubs should acknowledge them.
Sure its meaningless but Im sure long into retirement it will carry more value then the perceived value at the time.
I agree it has little meaning and almost zero value, but I think it would carry some value when your much old and retired to be acknowledged by the Club that you were genuine part of their Flag year, if not by the player, then at least their family Im sure. You actually don’t feel part unless you play, understand your thinking behind it, it’s a token gesture that has little meaning

Anyone remember this pic?You actually don’t feel part unless you play, understand your thinking behind it, it’s a token gesture that has little meaning
I never watch after the siren of any grand final since 98, it just makes me kinda sad that we didnt make it.
Robert Murphy hovering head down out the back? Surely you've seen this?I never watch after the siren of any grand final since 98, it just makes me kinda sad that we didnt make it.
No i havent first time I have seen it. I do know about Murphy missing.Robert Murphy hovering head down out the back? Surely you've seen this?
Bevo gave Murphy his coaches medal on the dais (not sure if Murphy kept it)No i havent first time I have seen it. I do know about Murphy missing.
As I have said repeatedly in the posts above, Im not talking about the value of the medal to the missing player today, but Im sure decades into his retirement it will carry some value, if not by him, then his family and children.
I think Murphy has kept it, because there was talk of the AFL should give one to Bevo, but then the value of Bevo's "gift" is diminished.Bevo gave Murphy his coaches medal on the dais (not sure if Murphy kept it)
There are plenty of other pics from the day of him looking happier and included though
TBH I don't have a strong opinion 1 way or the other
No doubt you don’t feel a part of it, but that’s not what’s happening in the photo.Bevo gave Murphy his coaches medal on the dais (not sure if Murphy kept it)

Just looked it up - Bob Murphy donated it to the Bulldogs museum. I agree that the value came from Bevo giving away the medal.I think Murphy has kept it, because there was talk of the AFL should give one to Bevo, but then the value of Bevo's "gift" is diminished.
The value comes that he gave his up.
I dont have a strong opinion at the end of the day. Nothing will change for the time being at least.
It would take a big huge player to miss out, for the AFL to consider anything, even then they still wont.
Did coaches always receive a medal on GF day or was this a new thing in the 21st century?Just looked it up - Bob Murphy donated it to the Bulldogs museum. I agree that the value came from Bevo giving away the medal.
Plenty thought it was a self-serving gesture, or that Murphy was in the wrong for accepting it. I thought it was a selfless gesture, paying tribute to a clubman who had missed out on playing in a premiership. What would we think if Tex injured his knee, and Nicks did the same for Tex? I would be a grown man in tears.
Not sureDid coaches always receive a medal on GF day or was this a new thing in the 21st century?
Coaches have received a GF medal since 2001.Did coaches always receive a medal on GF day or was this a new thing in the 21st century?

How do you change someone’s feelings though if they aren’t part of the grand final? Its one of the things the AFL culture has gotten horribly wrong.
Aaron Keatinge has a 97 premiership medal and Tony Modra doesn't is and that is nothing short of a disgrace.
