He's wasted at North, and he's exactly the type of midfielder we need.
In a better side, he'd be a (bigger) gun.

He's only 24 as well. We would get him coming into the prime of his career. I think this guy is a gun midfielder and in a strong team he would excel.
Played only the 14 games last season, still had around 400 disposals and 13 Brownlow votes.....

I think we should stop reporting who says they want to stay. They always say they want to stay until the end of the year. Except in exceptional circumstances.
pretty sure Dawson wanted to stay at sydney.. until he didn't lol

Reckon Irishman Connor Nash mightn’t be a bad pickup as a free agent. 198cm mid. Had a decent game against the Roos
That feels like it should a typo 😂

I didn't realise LDU is only 24 (I just assumed he was 27/28).

His clearance work is exactly what we need in our midfield. All of his key stats bar marks are also trending upwards this season, which is quite impressive considering North's performance so far.

Lazy footballer with average skills.

Agree, I reckon wanting to stay and not signing is Player Manager code for "if you want him you're going to need to offer more"

It's also a team thing. Doesn't look great to say you want out whilst your goal for the season is for your team to win as many games as possible.

I think it's likely we get former first round draft picks for unders that have talent but are not playing for whatever reason.

I look at the 2020 AFL Draft as a great example:

I'd take Stone and DGB personally.
I do like Conor Stone, I also like Max Gruzewski at GWS

DGB he would cost a packet of chips but I would take Worrell when Nick Murray comes back from ACL+ Curtin, Butts, Michalanney and crows likely going after Petty I think Worrell could come over relatively cheap.

Lazy? What?

Watch him closely next game,

He doesn't even hide it.

Does not run anywhere near hard enough, doesn't follow opponent around stoppages.

Lazy lazy footballer.

What about that Fin Macrae bloke? Four years in at average clubs if you aren’t best 23 the odds are stacked against you. Stone is the outlier because he’s had injuries and that GWS midfield is top drawer, but whose spot is he taking? Is he really an upgrade on Bytel, Sullivan and Macrae as the next man in? The addition of Parker may well take an opportunity for one of these fringe mids as well.

I’d really only be targeting the Hill/ WHE/ Lipinski types that have proven they can play, but fallen out of favour or struggled with injury. They’ll become clearer as the year draws on, but again Thilthorpe is the one I’d be targeting.

So exactly like Petracca, Rankine and JDG? I’d be wary of the balance myself and would prefer we avoid to much star power in the middle so any move on LDU could relegate one of JDG or Naicos to a flank role until JDG retires (pretty good outcome because they’d still be AA quality), but let’s not kid ourselves that the stars are going to put in defensively as much as the worker bees. The problem for LDU and North is they don’t have a Mitchell, Viney or Berry to cover for him. A guy with that level of output offensively and defensively is essentially a unicorn or named Bont…

Agreed with the Fin Macrae point, there is talk about Carmichael if he is to make it he would as only as a forward.

I kind of feel the same for Macrae that maybe he would only make it as the Lipinski type role as a high forward, wing and occasionally in the middle.

The debate about upside vs output is more about balance of the two.

But Stone is an option who if came cheap might be worth a punt.

Rankine i'm not going to comment on,

Trac and JDG would not allow opponents to stand 2 meters off them at a stoppage around goal, yeah around the ground that happens.

I would really watch LDU closely before arguing these comments, I also will say clearly this is a big issue at Nth absolutely could turn it around at a new club.
