Noah Anderson grew up a Richmond supporter. Dad Dean was on the board at St Kilda (still might be) and until a few years ago was still upset about the way he was treated by Hawthorn. No chance to get Noah on sentimental reasons

No matter how many times people are told it won't stop this truly odd narrative they are clinging to. Anderson may well end up at the club some day if he wants to depart the Suns - but it won't be due to sentimentality.

Dean is no longer part of the Saints.

I believe he was part of the past players contingent at our family day yesterday.

You have to hand it to Gowers, he's done a fantastic job getting past players to get involved in the club again! It's been great to see.

Mitchell probably deserves some credit there too.

Gowers was once estranged too, as he felt he was pushed out of the club to play for the Lions.
He credits Ian Dicker for bringing him back into the fold.

I think Gowers perspective and having been in those same boots helps.

Agree with that.

Gowers took over as president during a time of upheaval, aggression and ill-feeling.
He has brought a concilatory and embracing approach to the club. He's achieved a lot behind the scenes without chest thumping or creating headlines very second week. That's precisely what a decent president should do.

Mitchell deserves huge credit because he's been the perfect ploy. He's revolutionised the club on-field, brilliantly overhauled the playing group and brought joy to all. His positive attitude has been infectious to the players, administration and members (and, dare I say it, to the boffins running the AFL who set the fixtures).

Amazing what can get done when you're not distracted by trying to be the de facto state opposition leader while leading our club.

Been a shift from the autocrat to the democrat at all levels of the club, and we seem to have bucked international trends in doing so!

I've absolutely loved watching what Mitch has done in terms of the trainings with dads, past players, integration with the women's team. You see it goes all the way down to how he interviews draftees and I've got no doubt he'll do great working with the Indigenous All Stars.

From his early coaching interviews you could see he wanted to build the club as an institution connected to a rich history that everyone can get emotionally invested in.

Being honest, I'm stoked that our grand final doesn't need the same theatrics as the super bowl.
My god the ratio of entertaining sport to useless yap is insane in that sport- no wonder they all get that pissed to enjoy it.

I was talking about this today with a friend. My wife told me that she heard a rumour on the radio that AC/DC may be playing the Grand Final as they are apparently in Adelaide doing a show a day or two before. Of all the bands in the world that could rock four songs and outshine the Grand Final, I reckon Acca Dacca is it. As much as I would love to have a few phenomenal tunes blasted out on the G, the brightest light has to be the game. No AC/DC for me.

If feel Kennett really stood in the way of a lot of that, as player can put things behind them and still have a soft spot for the club but he seemed to just want to grind gears all the time. Like with the Don Scott thing, I don't like Scott's opinions but the games between him and Kennett about the HoF legend presentation was ridiculous.

I love that so many in our 100 year video or at the family day had spent time at other clubs or left the club on poor terms but are back and consider themselves Hawthorn people. Paul Salmon, Brereton, Tuck, Ayres, Eade, Matthews, Jordan Lewis, Dipper, Nick Holland, Gowers, Lake.

Then there are guys who were only barely at the club but absolutely feel like Hawthorn people. Max Lynch, Jack Fitzpatrick, Cam Bruce, Matt Spangher.

That's due to his decent relationship with Gowers. He doesn't have an issue with his former teammates just a few at board level at the time. The more we engage with Dean and bring him back into the fold the better. Not just for his son coming across.

Matthews was always a Hawthorn person, he just wasn't exclusively us. He's 50/50 Us and Brisbane these days because of his history with them but he will always get on board anything significant the club does like the 100 year celebration.

It's hard to resist rubbing that in the face of doubters who think 'strong men' are the way forward. Andy is doing a great job from an outside perspective. Hopefully, that continues.

And because he’s on their board. People (not you) get critical of Lethal not being a Hawk nuffie but seem to overlook this when they do.

We cannot thank Ian Dicker enough.

Matthews was talking about how he was supporting Port in the Semi Final against us, so I don't know how Hawks he is on a week to week level.

Supporting? Or he gave his opinion on who would win?

Anyway he's said many times that he's always Hawthorn and does attend events and you could see how thrilled he was in 2018 when Tom Mitchell won the Leigh Matthews trophy as number 3 for Hawthorn.

My point was that these guys with great careers at other clubs always have a connection to Hawthorn.

I mean I may be wrong but I don't think Sheedy or Malthouse have gone back to Richmond often.

He said he was supporting the Power and wanting them to win because, mainly because he felt they were the underdogs after all the hawks hype that week.

I don’t doubt that he’s got a great connection with the club and its history, however, I don’t think he feels that connected with the modern day hawks. More the past.

He’s talked many times on 3AW that Brisbane is his club in terms of the team he wants to win each week.

No shade to Leigh though, I love the guy and am thrilled when he comes back to functions or jumper presentations.
