I’m hearing that the club is fractured with internal rifts amongst management and players etc especially after the Sayers saga. Rumour only but I trust the source.

Carlton a hotbed of disunity and factionalism?

They have been for all my lifetime.
It’s nothing new, just different people arguing now.

Essendone are the same.

Wealthy people think the club is theirs & that they can make the decisions.

By the time we win another 4 premierships, to go onto 17, Carlton will probably have gone through another rebuild with another 6 coaches

I think Carlton have shattered any intimidation they have over any side now. They have shown to crumble under pressure, every side will believe they can beat them even if they are down by 40 points.

It would have been so easy for Richmond to just roll over from that point and accept it turning into the thrashing many (including me) predicted.

When you're a bottom side like say North last year, would go into a game against Carlton assuming they'll lose. It's a power being a strong team that sometimes your opponents do not believe they can win, and a bit of scoreboard pressure like we gave North late last year and they accept it.

I think Carlton will bounce back from that, but I really hope they don’t.

They were pathetic.
Always concerning coming up against a mob with a point to prove but their issues appear deep and ingrained. Huge amounts of pressure after 1 round of footy.

A team that relies so heavily on so few is not making any inroads. They are stuffed and aren't contending anytime soon. Another rebuild incoming.

You'd think Battle would be a good match up for him- I wonder how has he fared in previous encounters?

Not sure, but bear in mind for Battle's career with Saints they were a mid-table team, and the defence didn't have a midfield that gels as well as ours is at the moment to relieve that pressure. He's also now playing in a line alongside Sicily, Barrass, Scrimshaw, Hardwick, and Frost; there's a lot less mental pressure when you have that sort of coverage, knowing that if you take a risk that doesn't come off there's a lot of quality around you to relieve.

Curnow is a gun, but he'll likely be a little underdone and it's much easier to contain him when you have another 3-4 guys around who can come in and intercept.

This is not a joke but it is damn funny:

This morning SEN radio played a pre-recorded ad of Andy Maher cheerily saying'. “Footy is even better when you’re a member and today you’re in luck Bluebaggers because it’s Carlton membership day,”

To no-one's surprise... the Membership drive has been postponed 🤣

My oath it would have been entertaining radio to hear the melts.
