Kenny's comment in the presser about transitioning to a new game plan is an interesting one and probably tells you that Josh is running things behind the scenes.

They're cooked.
Im interested to know what the plan is.

Looked similar to last year, different pieces.... worse result

I don't think there's any threat of that happening this year. More confident than ever this year they are done and need a rebuild.
At least they have their first round pick next year to have a shot at Dyson Sharp... oh that's right they traded it away

FTFY

Port will look at the next 3 weeks - Richmond , Essendon , St Kilda to right the ship

If not Ken is gone and the excuse will be '' the split role was becoming a distraction so we are moving to give Josh every opportunity to take this side where it needs to be ''

Take the positive, all those teams they only play once so their fixture becomes a whole lot harder after that.

Port are done.

I know it’s only round 1, but they’ve been done ever since the embarrassing QF against the Cats last year.

Expect them to finish 14th - 10th and no first round draft pick, and then an exodus at end of the year.

Most they achieved was a few prelims and now looking at a long rebuild.

Question is, if they’re out of finals contention by mid year, are they still going to give Hinkley his victory lap for the rest of year? How do they sell breaking the ‘succession plan’?

So worse this year. But Pies missed the 8 and Port finished top 4. Was a terrible display, but plenty of time to make amends.
true it’s early but I have been convinced they aren’t getting anywhere near finals :

  • easiest draw 2024 with lots of close wins against non finals teams. Compare to their brutal double up games this year - it makes so much difference (last year their only finals double up was 8th placed Blues)
  • structurally shot. Unless Lord comes good, Marshall out for the year and Charlie retired. No gorilla forward that I can see in their list currently up to it. Luko a soft dud and not the answer
  • KPD holy shit they are bad. And reverse Coleman winner BZT isn’t the answer
  • Butters (and JHF) best player gone for a number of weeks. Form/fitness queries on return
  • Lost a top 5 player in Houston
  • handover plans generally don’t go well

But main issue is their list just isn’t that good besides a handful of elite talent. Too many not up to it players already playing and little depth.

World of Pain. It’s tarp time

Especially with Tassie coming in and as you say, no 1st rounder yet this year (pre any trade of butters etc of course)

Collingwood missed the 8 on % and won 12 games and drew 2, they only lost 9 games.

The problem for Port is going to be their double ups - Adelaide, Collingwood, Sydney, Geelong, Hawthorn and Carlton. Yikes.

Double ups can easily swing a seasons results by 3-4 wins. They are so crucial and we have been crucified in recent years whilst Powa kissed on the you know what.

Thats a fair point actually. Mine was up far too early for a walk this morning mind you.... 5am on a Sunday is unacceptable

Missus was in Adelaide last night. I’ve got one leaning into me with her head on the pillows and the other using my shin as a pillow. I’m desperate for a coffee, but can’t move.

I originally had them in the top few, thinking playing through Dixon so often made them worse. But after doing the ladder predictor, they dropped out to 9th or 10th. But I bet if we went back to the Pies game last year there’d be a lot of similar posts about season being over.
