I don’t see what the urgency was to extend Poles.
Side hasn’t achieved a thing , his drafting is questionable and his player trading has been substandard. Besides the Carolina trade there’s not a lot to warrant this even if coach Johnson is a fan of his.

Devils advocate.....he was hired super young, and like anyone hired young in a complex job, it takes time for them to develop. Reckon he's done well. A number of his draft picks are good....Tyrique, Briaker, Williams, Rome, G.Dexter...and did well this draft. He also managed to get Ben Johnson. Rrue, they haven't achieved anything yet, but franchise is trending up.

I’ll give you brisker and to a lesser degree Stephenson ( although he was responsible for the loss against the Commies being a complete idiot) Dexter is serviceable and not much more. Williams and Rome *should make it ( but haven’t yet and were pick 1 and 9 respectively so you’d expect so) and his trade for Chase Claypool for a 2nd rounder was diabolical. So was letting Roquan Smith go and replacing him with Tremaine Edmonds for similar money to what Smith wanted to stay. Same with Monty who was not asking the world either.
Kept Velus~Jones after they were offered a 4th rounder from Jacksonville for one entire play before cutting him last year
I’m in the minority who doesn’t think we drafted and traded so great this offseason either … I’d say it was mixed but no one knows that for sure just yet.
Johnson was a blue chip hire but it wasn’t enough to get an extension for me.

you are right, and so am i....as they say the truth is always somewhere in the middle. Im right in that hes so young and will make some bad mistakes early, and you are right because hes made a lot of those mistakes.

The key thing is getting Ben Johnson....if he ends up an elite HC who takes them places then Johnson will sharpen Poles as a GM, make him better, lean on him for hlwho to draft, will develop the rookies into something.

Anyway, as you know, GMing is a mixed bag, 50:50, always has been, the best of them still make tons of errors (FA, draft, trades).

I am with you but think they have improved this off season if it’s just with coaching.
I agree don’t think drafting was that great this draft or one before.
2024 draft should of moved up for ALT
2025 first two picks we at position they already have quality players in Cmet, Rome and DJ I’d rather they filled actually needs.

Agreed… they addressed the O line but took on Jonah Jackson’s bad contract and missed out on a top RB yet again.
I’m glad the excuses are over for the brass now though. Johnson should raise standards and weed out the sub par performers
