Sully back into the 22.
He was clean and concise last night when he came on.

Then it just depends on what we want to do with Lippa role.
Markov/parker probably first up as Sub.

Despite getting completely owned in the air ahead of the ball on every slow play we had, the speed and cleanliness we displayed going forward meant that height didn’t matter.

Unless opponents can work out how to get us back under 40% i50 conversion efficiency, height for us up fwd is not the be all for us.
It pretty phenomenal how efficient we have become at getting shots from I50 entries.

Melb are a ground ball and contest team (with limited other methods to score).
Despite Gawn being a rock, don’t feel we need to pay special attention to him beyond understanding how he sets up behind the ball.

Melb will have to do the same for Cameron, so that will be an interesting watch.

If Bruz is out, who will the Dees supporters direct their boo's and harrumphing?
I asked my brother the same question last night, haha.

Baffled at the calls for Cox to be in (phrasing).

Out: Lipinski - Schultz
In: Maynard (or Parker/Markov if unavailable) - McStay (or Hayes/West if unavailable)
Not for what he provides, but more an acknowledgment of how important DC is for us.

I agree that DC is important, but I just don’t think Cox helps preserve him with his 60% TOG and limited rucking. With a long break between games and a bye to come, I don’t see any merit

It looked to me like Lippa wasn't playing wing and was back into his starting forward role last night. We've filled that role with others all year - hopefully it's Jordy's by the end of the year.

It looked a bit of rotation between high half forward and wing as they moved players around.
WHE would have to be nervous

Allan having learnt to play wing has really given the selectors a fantastic headache if we get everyone fit.

When Bruzzy gets back, Perryman will probably be added to the mid/wing/high half forward mix - with Jordy and Titch still on the sidelines ready to return soon.

This is why we like players to play multiple positons so you can rotate them around and fit others in. Good problem to have.

Lippy was excellent last night
I have been critical but he was burning last night until that dirty dog assaulted him

In Parker for lippy
In Maynard if fit or Mitchell if he goes well today or Dimattia if he performs today for Schultz

Yup agree. Was debating how to word replacing lippa….but then thought,

Just go with the easy option and don’t outsmart ourselves.

Sully played Shoota role while he was out, so slot him back into that role.
Depending on whether fwds are back, WHE can roll up from fwd or Pez into middle and crisp out to wing if we bring a HB in.

The fact Sully was sub means we only need to bring in a sub, so who we bring in doesn’t really matter IMO.
Just keep it predictable and simple.

Plenty of options.

It’s bizarre how out of depth he looked in VFl on the wing, only to look outstanding in the minutes he’s played there in the last 2 weeks.

With his height, he adds an extra dimension as a defensive winger.
Interested to see how we develop his role because it’s fairly unique these days. Not many clubs have wingers with his attributes.

It’s insane.

We annihilate a big rival and absolutely tackle the shit out of them, yet the Cox cult want him back in the team.

This time Gawn is the excuse.
He is on thin ice and his form has not been good but he has some wonderful highlights when opposed to Gawn. He has injured Gawn with a high leap and knee into the ribs before following up with a brilliant running goal in 2022 or 23. He was selected as our first choice ruckman against Gawn in the 2023 qualifying final and began that game with a high leaping tap to one of our mids and also put Gawn on his arse again.

But you are right to say it is probably crazy to bring him back in given his form and our team's performance. Meeks was rag dolling Cameron early and I was worried that there was no back up option but we are so good at the moment it didn't matter.

Cameron is clearly sore but i think Brody , Long and Members give more than a servicable contest as second rucks tbat we don't need Coxy though he would give May trouble given him height

the only thing Cox adds value wise is his height and a 10-15 junk stat hitouts and maybe a joe the goose goal

H0ks won all the stoppage stats and inside 50s yet got smashed. Really shows you how strong our defence is holding up and yet people want to disrupt that and make Frampton ruck. Chol grabbing it out of the ruck twice in one quarter is enough thanks.

We haven't got anyone on our list as a back up option capable of coping with Meeks's size and strength.

I mean, in the VFL you don’t have players like Pendlebury, Houston, J Daicos and Howe putting it out in front of him to get on his bike.
