Dude the Academies ARE the isssue. F/S at the very least is designed as a traditional thing that doesnt pop up that often. The northern academies are already putting out multiple top ten draftees a year that directly benefit teams pushing for top 4 finishes.

It boggles my brain that people cant see how badly that skews the equalisation of the league. We do NOT want the AFL to end up like the premier league where its won by 4 possible teams and everyone else can make up the numbers. Father-son, NGA and northern academies are all part of the failed, broken bidding system which has decimated the national draft. Every measure to fix it has been a partial one because the discounts are too steep and loopholes have been left that allow teams to purchase first round bids with junk picks.

The NRL have know for a while that you don't need huge crowds do rake in the cash.
