Agreed. I’ve been a bit surprised at how well they are structured, especially forward of the ball.

The forwards are disciplined in their positioning and mids know where they are going to be.

After a decade plus of bomb and hope it stands out like dogs balls when you see an actual strategy being implemented.

Return of serve. What is fundamentally flawed about your interpretation is that you are presenting your case in the wrong court. This is the Sack Hinks Part 14 thread. Here, Hinkley is guilty of everything. Hinkley has no saving graces here. This thread is all about Hinkley’s faults; he has done nothing right for 13 minus two years. He can’t be cut any slack. Not in this court; not on this thread.

You are giving Hinkley credit for surviving 2020 and being granted 2021 (plus a further premature two-year extension in mid-January 2021) for ‘making finals’ - i.e.: making 8th. He started his gameday coaching in 2020 with an ‘out’ in his contract, and this unsavoury technicality means he wasn’t under real pressure, the pressure which accompanies a season that is a senior coach’s last season under contract minus any proviso … the pressure that starts up in round 1 and is driven by the senior coach’s raw and uncomfortable awareness that his tenure beyond the end of the current season has no proviso parachute, has nothing in writing that might preserve him. His tenure, his future, depends solely on the pro BS, unqualified, untrustworthy, TV ratings-crazy judgement of David Koch somewhere down the track.

Such a proviso-clean arrangement didn’t come into effect until round 1 2023.

In this court, my learned friend, it’s not about who is right and who is wrong. In Sack Hinkley Part 14 Court it’s about who wins. You are defending Ken Hinkley, as I’ve pointed out, in the wrong court. Hinkley is a loser. And so you lose with him.

HINKLEY CONTRACTS

So I'm just trying to figure out the Hinkley contracts.
Please tell me if I've got anything wrong or if you have more to add.

1st Contract - 8th of October, 2012 for 4 years to 2016

2013 - 8th. Finals 1/1
2014 - 5th. Finals 2/1

Two good years.
Whether it was Hinkley or our Fitness Coach is up for debate.
Cumulative Finals Record- 3/2
The extension is worthy but probably premature.

2nd Contract - 25th of March, 2015 to 2018.

2015 - 9th
2016 - 10th
2017 - 5th. Finals 0/1
Cumulative Finals Record- 3/3

Three bad years and a Finals loss to the Eagles after the siren.

3rd Contract - 17th of September, 2017 to 2020.
This contract does not seem justified in any way, shape or form.

2018 - 10th
2019 - 10th
2020 - 1st - Covid Year - just has to finish in finals that year to get extra year. Finals 1/1
2021 - 2nd. Finals 1/1

Cumulative Finals Record 5/5
We start to get the label of a good team that can't win real finals.

4th Contract - early 2021 for two years

2022 - 11th
2023 - 3rd. Finals 0/2. Out in straight sets
Cumulative Finals Record 5/7

5th Contract - signed in August, 2023 before finals on 2 year deal and then we go out in straight sets.

2024 - 2nd. Finals 1/2
2025 - Minor Round 4/7 so far

Cumulative Finals Record 6/9
At the end of the 2024 season, it is clear that Hinkley cannot get a team to the Grand Final and has failed so many times.

DISTURBING ASPECTS

Hinkley doesn't like the pressure of coaching for his life on the last year of his contract is similar to the team who can't get it done in finals.
Hinkley would sign a contract and seemingly cruise for a year or two.
The 3rd Contract as many have stated should have been his last. Up to that point had been 5 years of failure.
In order to get the extra year for his 4th Contract, Hinkley only had to make finals once out of three years. That is a very low bar.
The 5th Contract shows the Board knew it was more than likely that we would once again choke in finals so the contract was before finals. Not great.

Hinkley is crap but the Board is a sewer.
