Nor did he win one. Lions were all over us, getting the ball to each other and he couldn’t get himself a single possession in that period. A few of you are going to have to admit you looked at stats and formed an opinion on that alone. 1 possession with that much ball available in a full quarter for a fresh sub is horrific input. You could have stood around the goal square waiting to take the kick in and we’d probably only be missing a few metres gained.
He also completely shut Rayner out of the game who’d been killing us all night (and every time we play Brissy).

Wandered over to the brisbane board to see what their reaction was to Fagan's embarrassing press conference (nobody seems to have said anything yet), seems like half the bears' board is drinking the same kool aid.

Credit to Adelaide, they played out of their skins. Everything went right for them and they capitalised
Lol.
People being embarrassed by our performance… I’d be much more embarrassed if my team played for free kicks as a strategy. I’d be an embarrassed Crows supporter right now
Lmao.
We got hammered by the umps all night.
God this is A grade salt.
I have to double down on that goal umpire.
Make that A grade chicken salt.
I don't like Rachelle (sic)
I dunno why but i just liked this one the most. They'd swap any of their forwards for Rachele in a heartbeat and they know it.

Bontempelli is still unsigned

What i noticed last night was o'brien palming the ball down where our mids weren't and more often than not to their mids. Ashcroft has absolute footy smarts as more often than not he was wheeling away with the footy from a contest. Our mids either dn't have the same spatial awareness that the opposition prime mids do or the stoppage coaching patterns we run are rubbish.

I mean its great we are sitting here discussing this having won the game but it was more down to luck that brisbane butchered it in the last 1/4 with so many missed chances because they cleaned up all night at the stoppage

Every week. We setup behind opposition mids and react second. Looks almost like a directive.

We're building a good core of trustworthy players on every line. Worrall and Michalanney, Neal-Bullen and Peatling, Thilthorpe and Keays. They just refuse to let themselves get beaten. It's such a stark difference between the usual cast of scrappers and honest battlers, there's so much safety in these guys. That's been the biggest positive of the season for me.

Don't think it's a coincidence that these guys are either young or started at a different club, either. They're not weighed down by a decade of close enough is good enough and self-satisfied with just having a crack. We've finally got some guys that actually want to win.

I don't think we played overly well last night. Some players seemed off their game and some looked slightly injured. To win when you aren't at your best on a cold and rainy night against the best team is a big step forward. We got away with one last night but were screwed against Gold Coast so it evens itself out. Nicks yet again nearly lost it at selection. The team is good enough now to not play Walker, Smith, Laird, Crouch. Cooked experience is not helping us win a flag.

We dont have a plan b in these situations. We didnt try any personell changes in the midfield when they dominated the last 15 minutes, we put the game in their hands. I hope Nicks learns from this and goes to work on it.

Did we have Peatling and Berry (our 4th and 5th mid via CBA's) on the bench for the last 15 minutes?

The idea of the 80's-90's of "**** it, throw around the magnets and see what happens" is long dead. Football is all about systems, and mostly, your midfielders are your best equipped players to change momentum (midfield is a position dictated by talent). When we were on top in the fourth, it wasn't someone random that ended our charge, it was Neale, Ashcroft, Dunkley and McLuggage starting to win contests and upping their pressure levels. Same story as Port a month and a half ago, it was Butters and Horne-Francis who wrested momentum back.

Time for a few charlatans in here to admit a few things they got wrong

Players play for Nicks and he’s got us playing a decent brand that can win games

Laird was crazy good tonight

Keane one of best key defenders in comp

We have as much belief as any team in comp

And everyone would admit - Dawson is maybe the best captain in comp

How good are the crows ! Get around the boys and coach and enjoy the ride turning for this club and stop being such wet blankets if you don’t believe

For the believers ! How frighin good , we aren’t there yet but this is more fun than 2018-2024
🫵 Sycophant!!

🫵 Happy clapper!

Shame on you!

Yeah, I was wrong on Keane. First few rounds I was of the “wish he went to Collingwood” camp.
Keane and Murray our best combination. Would give Muz a couple of games in the sanfl starting next week. Butts a reliable backup.

Nah bullshit on the JP tackle Neale has perfected the head flop
Nah I didn’t mean the tackle itself. I was just lazy keeping my post short.

I meant just the whole shebang of it…
He was reported
“oh it was was 2 movements..” when it wasn’t.
trial by media
And he’s probably going to miss at least a week because.. well.. just because.
That’s all bad.

Shades of our win vs Brisbane in 23.

They kicked 1.9 or something ridiculous in the 2nd or 3rd.

5 goals in the last when we struggled to score all night was gold. Come from behind win was gold. Just the second time in 25 games.

They kicked the last 8 points and two ootf. Not sure how we won in the end.

Whilst I mostly agree with this post, that part is wrong. These players don't have that belief and the last 10 minutes was evidence that they don't. Yes, it was a fantastic comeback, but the moment this group had to face its demon of a 2 goal lead with lots of time to spare, the midfielders and forwards withered into nothing - no different to the Port game where we got absolutely slaughtered in the clearance.

In saying that, this may be one of the most important wins Nicks gets in his coaching career. This group gets to drink in the moments of them holding on for dear life against the reigning premiers tonight, and the only thing that really builds that belief is winning. Now they've got something fresh to hang on to when the going gets tough that doesn't have an asterisk of "it was only the 13th placed team, and one who has copped a few beltings".
