I haven't kept up with the details but he's a free agent I believe. If someone makes a decent offer we get a first rounder?

If thats the case I'll help them pack his bags. We need a list reset and this is a perfect scenario for us.

We will have 3 first rounders, use 1 to trade in someone that can kick or a small forward or a defender.

If we don't get band 1 then we might as well keep him.

Yep, we could end up with the next Cox, Perkins and Reid!

Good offer aka band 1 = first rounder after our pick (wherever that ends up) so looking at a top 10 pick

Decent offer aka band 2 = pick at the end of the first round. So after compo shenanigans probably pick 24 or something like that

Disapointing but understandable aka band 3 = a pick after our 2nd round pick which could be early 30s

All of these options seem to make it more in the Clubs interest for him to leave. Especially with the volume of forward half talls we already have on the list.

I would suspect the club in draper's case would 0ffer a deal just under band 1 compo so basically we get a first rounder if a club wants to offer him more.

Think its always been the plan, injury maybe just made the sa teams offer less.

Think his gone, with byran and vigo would you rather cap space and a first or draper.

Worth more than a 2nd though, in 3 years are bryan or vigo good enough to be no.1 in a top four team.

Yeah I don't think 100k per year is enough to leave Essendon. A lot of his visibility, marketing deals and interest in his podcast and stuff is from the Essendon fanbase in the Melbourne fishbowl. Plus whatever else the coteries can get for him in a post-footy career sense.

It's a pretty compelling argument for him to leave - go to a flag contender, play your best position and earn more cash. I just get the feeling that if he wants to stay, he'll probably back himself to get the no.1 ruck spot back and sacrifice the cash.

I don't want him to go, very important piece of any potential future success and in my top 3 favourite players. The offer should be fair, but I am glad that there will be no bidding war. If he decides to leave, life goes on and wish him all the best. But please stay

Draper likely would have been given a McGrath and parish type deal.

I just hope the compensation we receive is worth it. I could see Draper being a ‘cult hero’ type player at brissy, and him kicking 5 banana set shot goals against us

Reading between the lines, sounds like we've offered approx. $700k p.a., Brisbane are up around $800k, and Twomey is going with $900k being the rough marker for band 1.
