“He joins veterans Oscar Allen and Jake Waterman with season-ending injuries, while Dom Sheed and Jeremy McGovern were both forced into retirement due to injury/concussion leaving the Eagles without a dirth of on-field experience.”

Dear lord. Journalism has fallen a long way
Jesus, not only doesn't he know what the word means he doesn't know how to spell it, proof reading obviously not a thing at the West.

Lecca kicks 12 goals and yet it comes in at number 10.
OK......

Hird's hug was obviously much better at number 4.

I was there too and I heard some faint boos. Nothing that dramatic, probably got stamped out by other fans pretty quick.
I was there and there was nothing faint about the booing. Didn’t go on for long but it was very noticeable.

Not me, though, I was saying Boo-ornJ.

The wce media team need to take inspiration from Lebron James.

Have a lebron James style decision segment with Harley Reid. Camera views on fans reaction to his announcement after 30 mins of chatting

Do it for a good cause or something. It will draw huge ratings

I hated that so much. Haven’t liked LeBron since. Didn’t want him to choose the heat, Wade was one of my favourite players and had already won a ring with Shaq but it turned into the LeBron show.

I was there too, and some people around me were booing. They were a minority but were definitely noticeable. One bloke was loud like a foghorn. I wasn't sure if they were booing the team or the umps.

Although I thought we were pathetic in the 3rd term and could understand those who wanted to boo, my first thought was "Gee, I don't want to be like Carlton or Melbourne supporters ripping into their team."

Hopefully, the booing is one and done. Hopefully our team doesn't give the supporters reason to boo like that in the near future.

I thought it was booing the umps.

As bad as we were, is still think a big part of Richmond’s run on was triggered by some goals resulting from horrendous umpiring. After that the players dropped their heads and stopped running

And it goes on …

Rising Star Rd19 Moir from Carlton for MCG match.

That’s 15-3 for Vic matches. (Ignoring GatherRd - all in SA.)

The ‘statistical anomaly’ is becoming extremely anomalous.

So the maths works...

Excluding gather round there are effectively 22 rounds of 9 matches. That's 198 matches.
4 of the 9 (one in Bne or GC, one in Syd or GWS or Cb, one in Ad and one in Pth) are away from Vic. That's 88.
PLUS...
8 games in Tassie, 2 sold by Norf, 2 in Darwin, 1 in Alice, 1 or 2 in Cairns and sometimes a random Shanghai or Auckland game. Let's call it 14.
So, 102 of 198 NOT in Vic.

Even I can see that that's (just) over 50%.

So it should be sitting close to a 9-9 split. Unless all the non-vic teams are rubbish and only Vic teams have good yoof.

You are right about there being an anomaly.

You can only win a premiership at the MCG
Looks like the rising star locked in too now
Got to perform on the "big stage"
Right!

Furthermore

MCG x10
Marvel x5
One each Syd, Adel & Perth

8/10 Vic teams with nominations (no Haw&WB) v 4/8 non Vic (no Syd, GWS, GCS & PtA)

Another ‘anomaly’. Highest is Ess 4 (incl Gather Rd) yet the teams fully rebuilding (Rich/WCE) have two each. It seems the quality of Ess reserve players are twice as good as the Rich/WCE recruits.

So basically, more is less?

I haven't seen their workings but I know the answer is WC are bad and should feel bad. Lack of top 10 picks is the reason WC are bad but also somehow not a factor in Geel, Haw, Syd pretty much always being good. And the two teams with 10 each are on 8 and 15 year finals srought streaks.

Lachie Neale was pick 58 way back when. But he was traded for pick 5 in 2018 and has been a superstar for the Lions. Bit of a difference between not having a top 10 pick, using one on a player that doesn't turn out (e.g. DGB) and trading one for other assets.

Former West Coast coach Adam Simpson was brought to tears in the aftermath of the club’s infamous COVID nightclub incident in 2022.

Seven Eagles players were fined $5000 after being spotted at a Perth nightclub during the late stages of the COVID-19 pandemic, at which point AFL players were living under strict parameters to ensure the competition could run with limited disruption during what was an unprecedented time.

Pat Naish, Hugh Dixon, Jackson Nelson, Josh Rotham, Jake Waterman, Rhett Bazzo and Campbell Chesser were all sanctioned by the club.

“The photo that got leaked was a photo that Hip-E Club actually posted on their Instagram, and it was Jackson Nelson with Liam Baker, Josh Rotham and a couple other boys, and that’s how the club found out,” Naish said.
