Surely it can't have been a surprise to him that he has been told his contract would not be renewed.
he had to wait last season after the trade period to get a contract that is usually a sign of where you sit.

I love it when players are honest with themselves & retire before getting told this news.

Macca is going to go down as one of those players that were never stars but was there to play a part in the mechanics of the machine that made us flag winners...
loved players like Lambo , Shedda , Astbury, Grigga , houli , Townsend...
they stay in the hearts of Tiger fans and store moments that become ingrained.
Macca earned his spot in the group

I will never forget his debut, as mentioned by many above.

Agree with the decision, I think you need to stagger delistings/retirements of veterans.
I would say though, Kmac has got Short covered re durability and as a role player. Shorts game has deteriorated, his kicking is no longer the weapon it used to be and he offers nothing defensively. Like Kmac he should have been on shorter contracts.

He gut ran for us since making his debut in 2015, and regardless of his skill level and decision making he's still running fn hard. 2 time premiership player and easily could have walked into that 2019 side considering how strong it was.

If he gets another run at a WCE or FREO (being a WA lad) then I'd be happy to see him go well.

Macca at least understands what a privilege it is to play AFL. some players don't (JUH)

I don't blame him for wanting to play on and I do think he has lost a few yards and was never the most skilled player so his one wood work-rate does not stick out as much.

Got to take my hat off to this bloke. 1. Missed one of the GFs but fought his way back into team for next one. 2. Always played a selfless role for the team, sacrificing his own game so people like Dusty could be even better. 3. Great bloke who appreciates his teammates and the fans. All the best Macca!

I don't think he'll get picked up but it'd be a very Macca move to finesse a club into paying him for another year or more. WC could do worse honestly. I hope someone picks him up it'd be funny.
