A year with triggers sounds right, but I wouldn't argue with a flat 2 years.

You would have to wonder how much his ankle held him back in 2023 + 2024.
Given he looks like a completely different player this year compared to the tentative player running around in 23 and 24, something was certainly an issue.

Gavin Bell talked about the ankle injury Chesser suffered on SEN yesterday

It’s something that has, and always will, need ongoing management which limits his ability to train fully

Hopefully the surgery he had earlier this year has got it right and it doesn’t trouble him to the same extent it has in the past

Onya Chess! Prove all your doubters (including me!) wrong!

Would be rapt if he becomes a solid contributor after this first round track record since our last premiership:

2018
None (4 second rounders after pick split and bid matching: O'Neill, Foley, B. Williams, Cameron)

2019
None (Kelly trade, first pick in the third round: Jamieson)

2020
None (Kelly trade, first pick in the fourth (!!!) round: L. Edwards)

And this right here is why we’re in the predicament that we find ourselves in.

Chess was good yesterday - put himself in dangerous positions and ran his gimp wing ragged:
  • Covered the most distance in the game (14.5km)
  • Covered the most distance at high speed (3.5kms)
  • 3rd highest maximum speed 31.7km/hr
  • highest average speed (9.8km/hr)
  • 3rd highest total sprints (22)
  • 4th highest average speed in attack (8.8km/hr)
  • Highest average speed in defense (9.7km/hr)

Huge work rate 👏. A few more disposals and another goal or two would have been nice, but happy with how he's come in and contributed.

Looks classy and clean

Fast, effective kick and good endurance. Delist.

So much footy lost and future ability compromised all because of a slight tunnel in a marking contest and an awkward landing. Hopefully it can continue to be managed and doesn't hamper him too much. He is playing career best footy right now.
