I watched a youtube clip last night of Sam Grlj. He is a very classy act from what I saw.

His lateral movement seems elite. Great break away speed and his decision making was very mature. Very fast, clean hands. Good tackler as well. Now, I must admit it was a highlights package so he was the focus, but if he isnt the sort of player that Mini wants then I am not sure what is. Looks like he'd partner up with Elijah Hewitt and be a real problem around stoppages. Where will he likely go in the draft?

If we could get Sharp #1 (feel he'd handle the pressure well), Duursma #2 and Grlj as well (with a pick swap into top 10) Id be happy, happy boy. Of course there are some other good names, but this would feel like a well balanced top end draft.
grjl remminds me of shuey

We have obviously had serious discussion with Brisbane.

OA
Starcevich
Ah Chee
Yesterday haselby mentioning what's been discuss d here about Neale.
Us having pick 1 and 2 and the lions having a top 5 NGA they don't want bid on.

If the AFL allow us pick 2 for OA and starcevich with no dilution. We take Ah Chee and Neale that would bring in 3 experienced premiership players. A defender a forward and and a mid shoring up all three lines. This is good business at little cost.
totally this, can see Ah Chee play happening with Ryan going and Starcevich play if AFL stumps up.

Why would Brisbane be happy with this ? They get nothing because they got Oscar.

Let's just throw them hawks 2nd and 3rd for starcivich and ahchee and not bother the afl with something this trivial.

Put more effort into getting priority picks
It doesn't mention that Brisbane wouldn't receive compo, just says our compo wouldn't be diluted by acquiring a free agent in the secret formula.

This may not matter next year based on the first round bid freeze out rumours.

Disappointing to potentially miss out on Kenh but if we have access to Cody Walker/ Dougie Cochrane it more than evens itself out.
Who would you take if you had a choice out of Cody Walker and Cochrane ?

Happy to bring in Starcevich if it costs us nothing or very little. Even with his reported concussion issues its a no brainer. Even though we have Hough its will give us a heap more flexibilty in the backline/Midfield.

Baker, Graham & then Starcevich over 2 years would be good work.
As someone mentioned on here yesterday, if we front load the contract massively and he has issues the pay-out will be minimal year 3-4.
AFL giving us FA compo relief would be the only play here, we get Starcevich for nothing and BRI get a decent return on Starcevich, probably band 2 compo.
This is my only reservation with Starcevich is his concussion history, very solid player.
But can live with it if we get savvy and make the play as mentioned, seems we are getting very much more savvy in our list management.
Ah Chee play with Ryan going is probably a decent replacement and a decent play, wonder what draft pick Ah Chee would command, second round?

But then who could transition to the midfield?

Personally I'm happy that we're finally making moves to get more young talent in, after all we could have gotten free agency compo of pick 4 for Yeo last year! Or so this dingbat thinks 🙄View attachment 2409031
What a clown. Also highlights how dumb people are.

"They failed to move on their valuable senior players for high picks"

"No to PPs for WCE. They don't deserve them when they're moving on their valuable senior players for picks. Aaaarrrrgghhhhh!!!!!"

AFL may give us dispensation, but Bris won’t get the same (I mean they get 100x due to academy access anyway).

Bringing in Allen means no compo for them. Which makes the request from us odd, as we are absolutely in a position to help teams needing points, and Starcevich could easily just be added to a points trade (Bris get more, we get the player we want plus trade up).

In a weird season with a few teams needing points plus points being worth less we really are in a decent position to look at grabbing 4x top 10 picks (pre bids) through multiple trade ups (and holding 1+2 soon)

Realise hes probably more likely to go back to Vic, but if there's any chance of Flanders leaving GC we should absolutely be in his ear. Have plenty of money and all the opportunity in the world for him to play mid

rate Flanders as a very good player, probably the 4th banana in a A grade midfield squeeze which would make him A- midfield probably, perfect age, perfect type of player we would want to try and get for our midfield imo.

Others would know his abilities better but I would have thought he would be a B++ mid, thoughts?
Do a deal with GC for something best suits them as part of pick 7 from them. Everything we don't intend on using in our 2nd round on and F2nd maybe.
Sounds like Ah Chee price would determine what we would have left?

If there's truth to Simpson moving back to Victoria, then I think it follows that Flanders will be right next door

Why, BRI are losing a player through FA, they would get normal FA compo.

Dont be a Donkey. ;)

One thing that gets lost with the peptide puck head that is James Tird, is the assistance the bummers got as a result of being so bad the year after they were caught cheating.

They are the ones who brought that mess upon themselves got the whole team suspended for a year due to blatant cheating and were rewarded with pick one in the draft! Disgusting act.

Makes me wonder if we're pulling a switcheroo. Ask for this, get granted it with everyone assuming it's for Starcevich, but then trade for him and bring in a different free agent. Question is, who's available?
Worpel is the only other RFA not signed.

I hope you are right, but given our track record with guys in the same age profile recently, and wear on their body, i have little faith.
The difference is that Ryan is actively trying to leave. Yeo and Sheed wanted to stay as long as they got a somewhat competitive offer from the Eagles. And while Yeo obviously earned his contract due to his body breaking down, all it cost was money. He was an unrestricted free agent so the alternative was that he just goes to Adelaide and the Eagles get nothing in return.

Also, the Eagles have had incredibly bad luck with their older players, with Sheppard and Gov having to retire due to concussion and a number of other star players like Yeo, Shuey, Nic Nat being being generally ineffective and/or retiring early due to injury and guys like Gaff falling off a cliff once they hit the wrong side of 30. Kennedy is about the only guy recently who was still able to play at a high level well beyond his 30th birthday. Meanwhile Geelong have a 32 year old forward who just won the Coleman, Zorko was AA last year at 35, Jamie Elliott (33) is in the extended AA squad, Max Gawn (33) is too, as is Jack Gunston (33), Brodie Grundy (31), Nick Vlaustin (31), and Tom Liberatore (33). Along with plenty of others like Dangerfield, Sidebottom, Pendlebury, Blicavs, Neale, Whitfield, Macrae, Toby Greene and many others who are still contributing at a high level despite being on the wrong side of 30. Sure there's added risk, but just because our track record sucks lately doesn't mean that some players in that age bracket aren't worth keeping or recruiting.
