Don't know how I landed on Carlton thread but some on there believe that we are already in discussions with Sydney on our compo pick that involves Logan McDonald. All part of getting Curnow to Sydney.

what does it take for someone to offer up a midfielder for goodness sake. diamond dozen for everyone except us.

I posted that - it’s true Sydney has reached out about doing a deal for pick 2 (Oscar Allen compo), the parts referring to Logan McDonald are just guesses to see how a deal could be done.

I dont think its for McDonald necessarily, unless we think he can be a KPD. Just that Sydney want pick 2

thats fair enough. You are genuinely a fair poster. Perhaps Sydney want to trade Big Cox back, who knows.

If we get him super cheap then we aint getting much

What about McVee any chance of getting him and would we want him if available.

Does trading picks for Starcevich avoid us not getting FA compo for Oscar ?
I guess I rate McVee better than most and see him as an outside transition player on the wing with his kicking ability, speed and decision making, working between HB/HF.
I don't see him as midfielder as such and that's why I thru up Rivers as an option when someone asked about Petracca and Oliver.
Neither of them would leave VIC and Oliver has other issues.
Rivers I thought would be a better get if we were chasing a midfielder from MEL, 24 and transitioning into midfield role, 20% CBA's in 2024/25.

Go for him as payback to that little prick Mitchell. Send Rain over to negotiate with the Mitchells.
Nah, they're okay with losing him. Hawks need someone with actual talent in their midfield, hence why they were chasing Reid. If we want to put Mitchell's nose out of joint we should be finding out their target and swooping in for the steal. Might be Petracca.

Chad Warner or hang up.

Logan McDonald has shown nothing to even consider it even with getting the Blues pick back or something

This Liam Ryan stuff is lining up for us at a perfect time. No way we come away from this with a measly future second or a token pick. I can smell the blood in the water, reckon we extract overs for sure. Handy player or a juicy pick upgrade incoming.

Got faith?

Also expect him to lodge paperwork for Corey Warner instead of Chad Warner in return for pick 2 and our F1 which ends up being Cochrane.

Don’t do it to yourself

Darcy Wilson to move in with his mate Harley and play kick to kick again in the back yard?

Yeah mate I don't really subscribe to the relentless Matt Clarke bashing that some do on this board. Not going to call him a bust over one off-season. To be honest I wasn't unhappy with how things turned out for us in the end, besides Owies but you can't win them all. Willing to back the bloke in and give him a real shot to build the list.

Seems to be making the right calls for the most part. Letting Allen go is a good start this year, the posturing on Ryan is also pleasing. These are things we're not used to seeing in a long time. Ask me again after this trade period what I think of him and we'll see where it all lands.

What’s your prediction it would take for the Blues to do the Curnow trade to Swans?
Tough call, but 28-year-old Coleman-winning franchise key position players rarely hit the market. Now that they’ve turned his head, they’ll need to put something compelling on the table.

Any other year, I’d take Gulden and Pick 9… but with our highly-rated F/S pick in play, we need something outside the hitting zone… which is where Pick 2 comes in.

Admittedly, I’m pretty biased here.

As a neutral to the Curnow trade, I wouldnt even be mentioning Gulden, Gulden imo would be of similar value to NDaicos(more than Curnow).
Id put Curnow genuinely in the same price bracket as Warner(I know it sounds very convenient for the eagles) at pick 2 + change(late first rounder at best)

If you offered Curnow + the TDK compo what would you think if you ended up with pick 2 + pick 4ish? (Tigers supposedly are open to splitting a pick) - with the idea you offer the TDK compo and the change from the Curnow deal for pick 4.
You end up with 2 picks before any Dean bid.
Gets you CDT + whatever you want in the draft, plus Dean, adding to Jagga from a year ago.

Not a bad start to a rebuild of sorts

If Walsh goes in FA next year, you likely end up with 2 top 10 picks, thats a way to get up to Walker or just take 2 more top talents.
