Taranto is only okay; his disposal is pretty poor. McCluggage the only real A-grader from that draft. Rest of the top 10 was ugly: Ben Ainsworth, Will Setterfield, Sam Petrevski-Seton, Jack Scrimshaw, Griffin Logue, Will Brodie, Jack Bowes. Hell, the last 10 picks from the draft were probably better, you had Luke Ryan, Nick Larkey, Harry Morrison and Jake Waterman.

NRL changed their rules to stop Mark Nawaqanitawase winning their rookie of the year this year. He was far and away the best of those applicable to win it but having transferred from RU and being mid 20s they could see the optics didn't suit the intention of the award.
