I thought Livingstone was still on the category B list while Barnett on the Senior list so the two aren't really connected.
But Livingstone list spot will be vulnerable if we are anting to add all 3 NGA players to the list.

What alternative position could the club have taken though?

Players ****ed up and did the wrong thing. A bit of self reflection was in order, rather than sulking it up and playing like peahearts.
Did Richmond follow suit with Liam Baker or did he come out of it ok?

Sam Edmund was just spit-balling how Carlton and the Swans could possibly unlock a Charlie Curnow trade and he said 'perhaps they could get West Coast involved and throw their pick 1 or 2 in there and they get back Chad Warner since that's where he wants to be anyway' and I almost shot coffee out of my nose.

It wasn't a serious 'I have intel' comment he was just throwing out a random scenario.

will come down to list spots and potential trades imo.
If we need the list spots it will be between keeping Livingstone and Barnett and Barnett is the easy choice.
Just because of his contract or ability? Personally I'd rather have Livingstone on the list, he puts effort in

I wouldn't be against seeing Bailey Williams trialled down back during the pre-season. Just teach him to spoil instead of trying to clunk everything, build his confidence down there a bit. Worked well for Harry this year. I don't see any glaring reasons as to why it wouldn't be worth a shot.

If we are allowed to get free agents without affecting pick 2, whats stopping us throwing 200k a year(or however much) more than Brisbane is offering at Draper, and getting Starcevich too?

Would be better than McInerney or Reeves, or what we have

The fact that Draper sucks

With all the talk around we need this player and that player for the new ruck rules etc. I just find this fools gold talk.
We draft for 5 years time and trade for now.
More likely the new bench rules of 5 on the bench with no sub is the 1st thing implemented and their will be the need for a 2nd ruck on the bench or a very mobile and tall ruck/fwd.
These are not significant changes to your list profile.
Most likely we will be cutting significant tall stocks this year with Jamieson gone, Barnett should be gone and Livingstone depending on list spots and trades.

We have 2 average rucks, A Reid and JW who are all capable of providing this support.
CDT is an athletic average KPF and if we are after another KP player in the draft Ainsworth was playing mostly ruck and rotating with Schubert in the fwd line in the championships.
He destroyed CDT in the ruck as did several others and also has played plenty of time as a KPD, he would be my pick of a KP player in the draft.
CDT had more disposals, marks, tackles and 7 more hitouts than Ainsworth in their head to head

I've always wondered why most tall hybrid rucks tend to be KPF / Ruck rather than KPD / Ruck
My guess is that rucks tend to "rest" forward rather than in the back line

If your drafting for 5 years time then don't you draft the best available and he is.

Your defence needs to be set. You can't have a player playing part time there it would stuff up match ups.

Libba can't have too much more left in him.
Bodes well for Erasmus if they see him as a potential Libba replacement. They do love stockpiling WA players for their VFL team though. I really don't know what people are seeing in him. Need to watch him a bit more closely I think

Erasmus won't leave now, he's finally cracked the team and Fyfe is shuffling off, Brodie unlikely to be their next year.

He's not going anywhere.
Agreed unlikely now.

But still unlikely to crack a lot of CBAs though, Brayshaw, Serong, Young, Bolton, JOM and likely Reid in the future to go through there. While winning is a lot of fun, does he like playing the HFF/wing role? 3 years I think Freo have offered him while the last update we were at 4. Does he get Dev’d as well?

I would move on if i was Erasmus. They haven't invested in him. If i could get a guaranteed game somewhere else and presumably a longer contract with more money per year i would take it.

If Freo have already offered him 3 years and he hasn't taken it and we now have only a few weeks left in the season then i wouldn't be so sure he wants to re - sign with them. If it was a slam dunk decision in his mind then he would have signed back up already.
