The issue is that it's not like he was an exception. There are a series of players around his age bracket that were drafted and did not develop. Is that because a whole heap of them were no good or was it our environment wasn't conducive to getting the best out of young players.

None of them went to other clubs with presumably better development programs to have successful careers.

If we are moving pick 2 into next years draft, I hope its for a trade for another R1 this year + a F1 or something along those lines.

I'd take 5, 6 or 7 and F1 tied to the Bombers

True but you notice a trend with teams that have been perennially at the bottom where draft picks don't turn come on. Just hypothesizing but suspect the first few years in a young players entry into AFL has a significant impact on how their career progresses. For instance I'm not sure if McGovern or Naitanui had been drafted by us in 2020 or 2021 they'd have had the careers they ended up having.

Sorry I thought the players you're talking about were the ones drafted when we were good but had a poor draft hand because we were good and/or traded for the likes of Redden and Kelly.

I feel it's players in that age bracket that are the ones we're lacking, not the ones drafted since we shat the bed.

Here's my thoughts, last year it was a great draft to get as many top 30-40 picks as possible because of how deep it was, this draft it is very important to have as many top 10-20 picks as possible, we're going to have 3 minimum without trading.

Unless 1 or 2 is being traded to grab an extra top 15 picks giving us 4 in the first round no dice on trading.

Take Duursma, Take Sharp, hope for Cumming.

Agree, we need talent now and top end talent.
We have a unique draft hand because we have traded out assets Barrass, OA, Ryan use it wisely.
Seems we are dropping hints everywhere about come at us with a very good deal and we will entertain it imo.
Enhance our hand as much as we can.

Yeah it’s what he predicts the club might do in the offseason. Didn’t say he had intel but said this is a prediction of what he thinks they might do as this draft is weak and it’s not what he would do.

Yeah, you’d hope the only reason we have dropped off an Erasmus is because he have someone else locked in. The club has been very vocal publicly they plan on getting depth in the midfield and mature bodies. Rhino just wouldn’t have that intel yet.
