I think we got Dixon partly because he had a previous relationship with Hinkley, but that ended up being a mistake for Dixon as he cost himself a lifetime of niggling injuries and probably 150-200 career goals by coming here.
Butters might follow Hinkley. It's not the end of the world. If he was a Luke Hodge style cultural catalyst who could drag us to a flag, we'd have had better finals performances when he was our star player. I'd much, much prefer to keep him but we have to simply make sure our culture is right and that we get a good return if he goes.
Players come and go but getting the culture right is crucial. There are plenty of examples of superstar players moving clubs and then their old club winning a flag. Look at Nick Stevens, Buddy Franklin, Brett Deledio, Ryan Griffin and [PLAYERCARD]Adam Cooney[/PLAYERCARD], [PLAYERCARD]Brodie Grundy[/PLAYERCARD], All the Adelaide old guard in the mid 90s.
