Eagles have entered the Windhager stakes.

Unsure of his free agent status - would it become part of the Liam trade or a free swing if we receive exemption from the dilution of pick 2?

Who says we haven't made an offer yet?

And no matter what godfather type offers we may have put out there, if Windhager/Steele/Petracca/Paddy Cripps etc don't want to come, then it doesn't matter at all.

We may have??? Incredible how our club can keep it from the media when no other club can though?

"Far" more is a stretch

Ryan averaged more tackles, inside 50s, contested possessions and metres gained than Ah Chee this year. Same goal average in a much much much worse team. Goal assists almost identical too. Ah Chee just on disposals and surprisingly marks

There's one year between them in age and one is contracted.
Yep, put them in the same team and I’d expect Ryan to outperform Ah Chee

What a tantalising trade and draft period it's going to be for us.

  • Oscar Gone.
  • Ryan gone via trade
  • Chesser gone via small peen
  • bunch of coaches and staff out the door

  • Linked loosely to Jed Walter
  • Linked more solidly to Starcevich... Ugh
  • Potentially Blight or our boy Dev off the scrap heap
  • Ryan trade could net a player like Steele

4 picks inside the top 20.

Don't screw it up WCE

Going back a few pages here. What do people see in Blight? Picked up in the mid-season draft last year and de-listed after 15 months by the only team as shit as we are.

I know we need to pick up players for free to preserve draft capital but this screams out scraping the barrel. Surely there's nothing in it?

Agree, just forget him and move on.

What magic bullet are you hoping for here?
Why do you think I am hoping for a magic bullet?
It is a known fact via a court of law that he has been a known cocaine user.
Yes?
He has been out for personal issues and repeat issues this year. Whatever happened between round 6 where Voss gave him credit for bouncing back and now is clearly just not a kid suffering from some mental health issues. That wouldn't cause a club to want a player out, much less a young potential A grader.

So. What gives you any credit or hope we're the right environment for him aside from geographical isolation?
DUE DILIGENCE

We only have news reports and rumours on bigfooty here.

If we didnt have a PROPER LOOK into it then we would be negligent and our list management/recruiters should be considered incompetent

What the club learned through the Ben Cousins era is just how hard drug dependancy is to overcome.

Ben was the most determined footballer I've ever seen. He would run till he puked and then run some more. Our captain, a star of the competition and one of the highest paid footballers of his time. And despite everything that was at stake, how mentally strong he was to be able to work so hard at training and on the football oval, even he couldn't turn it around.

If Hollands is a drug addict, I doubt we can turn him around if Carlton couldn't.
DUE DILIGENCE

Carlton have done a wonderful job of selling Hollands s as a lost cause that they’re excited to get rid of. Can’t believe other clubs aren’t cooking hard for him.
Someone will be cooking hard for him...

West Coast lining up move for Hollands
Eagles keep their powder dry over Hollands links

Between this and potentially drafting Cumming this could be a good trade period regardless of what actually happens

It's a simple case of Richmond having depth in that area and us not, with the retirement of McGovern exacerbating that. Has shown AFL qualities, so if free, why not.

Straight swap or Ryan + F2 for Windhager + F3?

Edit: Swap of F2's instead of F2 for F3

I know it’s not the point, but you’re being pretty generous to North there.

Because Tigers picked up a stack of young talls last year in the draft? As well as having two key backs in Miller and Balta who are only 25/26. They can't carry them all.

I hope we stay on the youth path and don't bring in a bunch of older list cloggers. Of the names that have been mentioned to date, the only one we should be actively pursuing is Windhager (assuming there is any substance behind this). As for Starcevich, well, he's a good player but from a risk management perspective the head knocks issue is a red flag.

Jack Steele, please, please, no!
