Can the Blues afford to trade their future 1st?
Hopefully we'll know how this pans out before the trade period starts but IMO that would dash any chance they would have of getting Cody next year.
They can't. But that shouldn't be our problem if they want pick 2.

I highly doubt that they want pick 2 so much that they'll throw away their only chance of getting Cody Walker next year.
I agree. But 11, 12 + Acres/McGovern doesn't really work for us either.

Neither Baker or Graham are midfielders.

As for yeo it may be worth using him off the HBF the next couple of years if we want him to get on the park
And you think Blake Acres who's about to turn 30 and had 19 clearances for the whole season is going to the senior midfielder we need to take pressure of our young guys? No chance, would be a complete waste of a list spot. I mean the bloke has had 40-odd centre clearances from 11 or 12 seasons, he's the exact opposite of the kind of player we need.
Also you obviously haven't paid any attention this season if you think Graham hasn't been playing as a midfielder.
Baker hasn't played much midfield I agree, but he could easily rotate through there if we really need him to.

Ummm....

Acres sucks ive never said I wanted acres

I know Graham has been playing midfield but his man always kills it and Graham never does .

Is he a midfielder or is he a HFF who has to play midfield

Sheed would have had a better year if fit . Maybe not in tackles but clearance and production most probably

I mean the post you responded to was me mainly talking about what a waste of a list spot Acres would be....
I obviously hadn't read the post you were replying to my bad

my point that Baker and Graham aren't midfielders still stands

I don't mean equal in talent, I mean the best two midfielders.
The best mid is Annabelle who is tied to Brisbane academy.

He is almost as good at the coal face as sharpe without the lack of athletic abilities.

Sharpe is probably the safest bet for us

Duursma is the risk reward pick with a ceiling as high as Goddard but could end up hoskin-elliot .

More than likely in between being like the lizard

Cumming is the tantalising prospect .

He could be that dayne beams / Robbie grey prospect that would be equally at home playing forward or mid

My post was mainly about us not needing an old, average, outside midfielder like Acres.
But Graham is 100% a midfielder, not sure what games you were watching this year. Sure he rotated through the the half forward line in a lot of games but he played a fair bit of midfield. You might have noticed the brackets in my post - Baker (if McQualter wants to use him there) - because Baker can and has been at times played as a midfielder. Either way they're all, including Yeo's ghost, all better options in our midfield than Acres

I've watched a lot of Duursma. If he had Goddard or Blakey's kicking he'd be talked up in the same vein as Harley.

All this talk about "no elite talent" makes me even more keen to stick with picks 1 and 2.
A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush - take the two best players and keep rebuilding. Simple.
I’m no longer patient.

Sick of pushing picks out into next year.

Use pick 1 and 2 now. No overthinking it.

Something that hasn't reall been brought up is the Harley and Yasmin break up. If Harley did the dirty or similar and got caught out then that does potentially throw a spanner in the works for drafting Willem.

You can't get bogged down with tedious shit like this. The entire draft has all these quirks now and things to cater to for each player, like homesickness and whatnot already.

Sharp has the best CV of any player in the draft, happens to be a midfielder and arguably the exact type of player we need.

Whilst Durrsma is considered the best prospect in the country based on upside and his likely projection as an AFL player.

Tick and tick. That's all that should matter. Where they're ranked on the clubs draft board.

Don't complicate it with personal nonsense. Particularly for a player (Reid) the club has catered to enough already since he got here. Yaz just did her shoulder in the AFLW, is that going to impact is taking Thrillem now?

Talked to someone close to the club who has good mail, sounds like Pick 1 for an F1 next year. Pick 2 to Carlton for 10 and 21. 10 on Farrow and 21 for Starcevich. Motlop maybe involved.
That would be absolutely abysmal. Catastrophic

That would mean we are not rating this draft
