Fair enough, I absolutely did not want. Coming off an Achilles tear and with his erratic playing style and horrid kicking action, I am glad we didn't end up with him. Saying that, he'll probably head up to Brisbane, get past his injury and dominate and I'll look stupid for not wanting him

The context of his form to date has been in a bottom tier club. As a ruck he is basically in his prime now and should be for another 4 years.

He was playing forward half the time as well which impacts his stats, sharing with Flip, or Bryan or Goldy.

On our club board the consensus has generally been that the other three are better tap rucks, while Draper has more capacity in other parts of the ground and is definitely more of a wrestling spiritual leader kind of player.

Yep.

That's pretty much your usual quality contribution.

Just matching your big brain contribution which failed to address my initial point that WCE are voluntarily letting Allen go for draft picks and could keep him if you wanted. It seemed I hit a nerve given you immediately went off the reservation in your response.

It's a risk on Brisbane's behalf because no one really knows what level he'll get back to post injury, and whether he'll be able to stay on the park.

But Draper's best is quite good, it would be a fun watch to see him in a good side if he can get back to the level he looked capable of.

The sooner the nepo babies are put to bed for good the better.

Actually that would be a great marketing tool this weekend.

Battle of the Nepo Babies - Lions v Suns.

Both clubs been sucking on the "teat" for years.

No wonder so many clubs and fans have had enough. And Neppo Baby posters bragging about it just says it all really.

Man you WC posters are good for a laugh.

Brisbane got nothing until 2016/2017 when the whole organization had to be replaced due to everything being poor for almost a decade. Outside of that, we got 1 priority pick, and 7 or 8 draftable players from the academy, only 2 who have been drafted in the first round (unless you count Marshall), one of which never played a game.

Compare that to the Suns and GWS, even North Melbourne, and there's a pretty big difference. But sure, Nepo baby.

You guys will get the tall fella from Collywobble, probably Starce as well this year/next (providing WC doesn't have anything else coming). That's the beauty of Free Agency, the players get to decide where they want to go. FA is not about equalization, and never has been in practice. Can't get mad if Draper and Allen want to go to somewhere, especially Allen who your club is forcing out.

Lions won 3 flags before having their extra COLA salary removed or whatever BS title the AFL called it back then.

Then the Lions slumped before the AFL YET AGAIN popped them back on the teat with their academy. And here they are now? Current premiers and still sucking hard on the teat.

So pretty much Lions only succeed when being "suckled" by AFL House.

Will run out of * * * * * soon the way thing's are panning out per the AFL nepo flag strategies. Just keep piling on the draft assistance until they win a couple of flags seems to be the plan.

“Weird melt” as they say. You know Brisbane are getting a player and Essendon get the compensation pick right?

Think the magic number thrown around last year was $900k. I imagine it'll either be the same or slightly higher this year. Either way he'll be very close.

What does count against Essendon is that he'll be 27 at FA (there was an article from a whole ago that had the cut off as age on October 31). Battle, Perryman, McKay and Daniher were all 26 from memory.

So based that hand waving, $800-850k would probably still be band 2 by $100-150k or so.
Will need at least $850K which is doubtful, he is probably being offer $800K at max.

Lol. If you had a brain you wouldn't need to ask silly questions.

Which are nothing more than silly trolling attempts.

Allen wants a big long term deal. Eagles have been badly burnt with big long term deals with players who can't stay on the park. And they are not contending therefore the risk v reward isn't there for them.

Lions feel they can take those risks given their list and the never ending draft access and support it gets gifted every year.

So the club gets bagged for not moving on injured players demanding big pay days. And as soon as they do move on an injury prone star looking for a big contract trolls like you crawl out and have your bit of fun.

Now trot off and have another suck on the "teat". Almost your bed time isn't it?

Okay, cool.

By your same logic, you guys won a flag 7 years ago. Therefore, if you get any assistance - Nepo baby.

Let's break down your points.

Lions won 3 flags before having their extra COLA salary removed or whatever BS title the AFL called it back then.

Pretty sure this got taken away when Franklin came across. Didn't exactly keep us in premiership contention after 2004.

Then the Lions slumped before the AFL YET AGAIN popped them back on the teat with their academy. And here they are now? Current premiers and still sucking hard on the teat.

The academy did not directly win us a premiership. Arguably, our traded in/drafted players won us the granny. Daniher, Ah Chee and Dunkley were instrumental to the finals, and whilst Morris, Lohman, Fletcher and Will Ashcroft famously had a part to play in that 4-game stretch, only one of those players is an academy player who would've been coming to Brisbane anyway through father-son.

As I mentioned, we've only had 7-8 drafted players through the academy, one of which being Fletcher. Hipwood and Andrews had been on our list for forever by the time we won last year, Coleman, Reville and Michael didn't play. Blake Coleman had been delisted a year prior, and Gallop/Marshall hadn't been drafted yet. Keays was playing for a different team.

Will run out of * * * * * soon the way thing's are panning out per the AFL nepo flag strategies

Yes, because restricting who you have access to is totally going to change things. We will just see more draft tampering when kids are given less exposure, then get drafted anyway.

Again though, you're on a thread that's related to FA, and your problem is with other stuff.

I wouldnt know not being from WA nor living there.

You signed Yeo who hasn’t been able to get on the park for years to a big money deal until 2027.

thought he would be Adelaide bound
not the case...
good luck brizzy with this

Surely we couldn’t possibly land a Top 5 pick as compo for this guy. Would be the swindle of the century.

The AFL is ****ed but surely not that ****ed.
I’d put it in the same basket as the eagles getting band 1 for Allen or North getting band 1 for McKay.

Complete bullshit, but those are the rules 🤷‍♀️

No.

At best it'll be #6 before academy etc

We won't, it'll be pick 6 (which will then turn into 9 or 10)

I’m a little concerned about the age factor. Otherwise I’d be very confident
