Come on, Wilks. Why are you stringing along your loyal Saints like this. They’ve already been through enough.

Get on the blower to Hutchy’s boys tomorrow morning and tell the world you’ve agreed to accept the captaincy and a loan from Leek Aleer on very fair terms.

You're cooked, Dogs. Our solid gold ITK has just said he ain't going nowhere. Maybe you can bring Brian Harris (Lake) out of retirement.

I prefer Armoooo tbh 😂

he’s not breaking contract lol, you guys don’t have the trade capital.

I agree with the first part that I don't think Wilkie is leaving, but the second part is untrue. You can now trade 2 years into the future (i.e. the 2027 AFL Draft). I reckon if push came to shove and the Dogs offered 2x first rounders from either 2025/26/27 and a suite of swaps in between it would get done.

Pick 10 with some steak knives coming back would get it done
Not even close.

While I do think the bulldogs are on the slide, still wouldn’t trust a future first. Especially when Tasmania enters the scene and likely dominates the first round anyway.

That wouldn’t get the deal done, either. They’re not going to trade Wilkie just because it looks okay on paper

I've also had to warn saints fans, we're not likely to be well compensated.

Sos has apparently put a target on his back and managers are happy to turn the screws. It seems he's made a lot of enemies and now it's time to pay the piper.

I'm absolutely filthy, the dogs are going to be swiping their missing piece off of us for cents on the dollar (in terms of draft capital), while we're off topping up the super account of our list managers son.

Well played dogs at least, if the AFL don't get involved to mediate to ensure a fair deal, we'll be talking about this one for a long time.
I can’t imagine Wilkie’s manager is turning any screws on anything given his client roster comprises only Wilkie and McCreery. Not much power to be had there my friend.

It’s quite funny people are drinking from this well.

I'd imagine his manager is just trying to get more more for Cal, be it at the Saints or at another club.

Gut feel is a small bump in his existing contract at the Saints is enough for him to stay.

Agreed.
Has been happy to accept front loaded money and the security of a 4 year deal before he had accomplished any accolades though. Not to mention the $50k bonus the club gave him and the rest of the leadership group over the offseason.

Cal strikes me a measured bloke so I would imagine an extension that’s considerate of the money he has already received and more reflective of his importance to the club.

modest increase to salary plus bonus payments for every time he has to cover for Aleer not defending his man

I reckon Cal ask for a trade. Saints knock it back and a deal is done with 30 seconds of trade period left. Generally how these trades play out

He might not be disgruntled anyway. He might just listen to an offer on the 1% chance he's gettable, talk it over, then decide to stay.

Can't blame a club for asking the question though. As a club, we'd be negligent if we didn't ask.
Dogs had to ask the question, as you said it would be negligence if your mob did not even try.

Any club in the same situation would do the same.
