So according to Gettable, we are meant to trade our assistance package pick to the Lions for Starcevich even though they would've got nothing for him through free agency. It's not like they could compete with our $ offer.

Instead of allowing us to not offset our free agency compo for Allen, they manufacture an extra pick that will go to the Lions that they wouldn't have got.
Sounds more like an assistance pick for the Lions rather than us.

I guess we at least don't use our own draft capital for it, but I thought the Eagles idea was actually a good one as it doesn't dilute the draft. I don't get how it disadvantages the Lions. Couldn't they still match regardless of what happens to our compo?
Lions won't get anything for Starcevich as they are signing Allen & Draper as FA. They are in a significant player net gain.

The suggested AFL assistance of Eagles being able to sign Starcevich and not offset our Allen band 1 compo is our benefit only and doesn't extend to Brisbane getting a bonus handout.

Yeah I don't really understand that. The AFL are going to say no to us getting Starcevich as a free agent without diluting our pick 2 because it would somehow be unfair to the Lions even though they're getting 2 bigger name free agents anyway so we wouldn't want to dilute their compo even though they wouldn't get any regardless and they're the reigning premiers who are also getting the best mid in the draft from their academy...

Wat?

Exactly like you said it's an assistance pick for the Lions who are the last team that needs one and would probably be a better pick than they'd get for him as a free agent anyway, even though they're getting 2 of their own. If we get an end of first round priority pick why on earth would we trade it to the Lions for Starcevich? We can just offer them any of our later picks and it will be more than they'd get for him going to any other team as a free agent and we could save that pick for another player. Surely the club can't be that incompetent, what am I missing?

If Neale does leave, looks like it will be to Freo unfortunately.

The Eagles link is mostly based on Freo not really needing him and could they even fit him into the cap.

I'm sure they'd make room for him.

Fremantle chief executive Simon Garlick also stressed "no trade request has been made" in an interview with SEN Radio, emphasising that the Neales should be allowed to have discussions about the future of their family without it becoming national news.

"With that in mind and with all parties in mind, we're loath to make any detailed comment at this point in relation to that," he told Sportsday WA.

"Clearly if it were to occur, and it's a hypothetical at this stage, it's a really exciting prospect based on the player that he is and what he's achieved so far in the game.

Recent SEN interview?

Any consideration for that article being 4 years old too? :$

Whispers Brad Ebert is looking to return to Port. Luckily they're usually a really good club to deal with and be should be able to reach a fair and equitable deal with them and build a long lasting professional relationship for the future.

Gettable update (for non listeners a fair bit of Eagles related stuff late)

Gave the Hawks fans a back hander saying they wouldn’t offer that deal to Harley. Was 100% offered.

Walter has had a deal on the table from the Suns for a while. Cal believes that will be upped and he will sign.

Flanders likely to explore his options. Victoria mentioned.

Robey possible top 10 pick now. Was well and truely on some clubs radar but now on everyone’s.

Fiorini has interest from clubs (Port and Essendon mentioned)

Teams ain’t expected to take many picks at the draft.

Ryan valued at between F2-F3. 🫣

Cheeser valued at Blues 34 pick this year. (Hard one to value)

Davies expected to stay now. Did look around but no club said come here and we will give you a long term deal.

Cal Ah Chee likely at the Crows next year. (Eagles not even mentioned)

Eagles pick 1&2 Duursma and CDT (if we get it) separated themselves. If they only get pick 1 he doesn’t know who we would take. Compared CDT to Thilthorpe development a little as a forward in u18s.

Eagles draft package assistance. Unlikely get the free hit at Starcevich but will use their end of first round pick that has to be traded if we get it. Likely will get something. Starcevich decision still unknown though.

Future access to FS and NGA still in discussions.
Thanks 🐐

I like the look of Tim Kelly. Two first rounders would be a bargain!

SEN reporting that Ian Downsborough is likely to move to Port Adelaide, will likely net us pick 1 which they believe we'll use on Michael Gardiner

I do love the idea of old mate seeing all this Neale chat then jumping onto google to search "Lachie Neale WA trade" then wondering why all these articles and interviews with the Freo CEO hadn't been posted

I'll be honest, the names been thrown around in here just makes me depressed.

It's going to be a tough year next year regardless.
It's almost like we're a team that's won 1 game all season, and attracting big names is next to impossible...

thanks again for adding this.
I am in the camp of if players haven't signed by now they are 80% likely gone.
I am also of the opinion we do our work behind the scenes and don't broadcast anything, we have been doing this for ever and we are even more so with the current list management team.

Can't see Flanders getting to STK but can see another club going hard from Vic. 50% WC.
I still think he is the perfect player need for our team and unless we have been told no, we would be definitely offering decent terms and pick, Hawks 1st.

If Ryan is valued at a F2-F3 pick we hold to contract, don't think STK would put him through a medical to offer less than what we would like. STK would have to get a pick mid 20's to satisfy us.

In the same breath Chesser is worth pick 34? Sounds a bit lazy of what they have, but if that's what's on the table I would take that all day long.

Ah Chee is gone, WC and ADE are in the market and we can accommodate, 80% WC.
Starcevich hasn't signed by now he is out, WC 90%. We wont get our request for FA compo relief, so will have to trade for him.
We will get end of 1st round draft assistance and that goes to BRI for Ah Chee and Starcevich with a later pick Hawks 3rd.
Still think McVee is gone from MEL, in a chase with FRE. 75% WC. Hawks 2nd round.

We will get 2 extra rookie spots as per the NM package but will be available for 2-3 yeas covering 2025/26 drafts and be 2 years per rookie spot.
WC taking Duursma & CDT again is just lazy or the rumour we put out we are into them has stuck.
Duursma maybe, CDT never, Sharp 100% best mid available and welcome to WC D Sharp.
