Why the hell would we give a end of first rounder for starcivich. Brisbane have obtained 2 high end free agents and now get an end of first for starcivich?
More to the point, he will be a free agent. Brisbane won't get anything for him if any other club picks him up. His trade value is very low this offseason.

Gettable update (for non listeners a fair bit of Eagles related stuff late)

Gave the Hawks fans a back hander saying they wouldn’t offer that deal to Harley. Was 100% offered.

Walter has had a deal on the table from the Suns for a while. Cal believes that will be upped and he will sign.

Flanders likely to explore his options. Victoria mentioned.

Robey possible top 10 pick now. Was well and truely on some clubs radar but now on everyone’s.

Fiorini has interest from clubs (Port and Essendon mentioned)

Teams ain’t expected to take many picks at the draft.

Ryan valued at between F2-F3. 🫣

Cheeser valued at Blues 34 pick this year. (Hard one to value)

Davies expected to stay now. Did look around but no club said come here and we will give you a long term deal.

Cal Ah Chee likely at the Crows next year. (Eagles not even mentioned)

Eagles pick 1&2 Duursma and CDT (if we get it) separated themselves. If they only get pick 1 he doesn’t know who we would take. Compared CDT to Thilthorpe development a little as a forward in u18s.

Eagles draft package assistance. Unlikely get the free hit at Starcevich but will use their end of first round pick that has to be traded if we get it. Likely will get something. Starcevich decision still unknown though.

Future access to FS and NGA still in discussions.
Thanks for the update, Pete. You wade through all the crap on these podcasts and make a nice summary so we don't have to listen to it.

No way we let Ryan go for an F3. He is contracted and we can just say No. I would rather they did that than take what is effectively a token draft pick. I am sure they feel there is some moral case to just hand him over since Saints are offering 4 years and we have probably told him it is one year at a time from now on. But we need to be more hard nosed. The Saints need to be made to hand over at least an F2 for him if they think he is worth a 4 year deal

I’m almost certain eagles don’t take sharp if they hold 1 and 2. First reason is I think his ceiling is too low to warrant taking him with a top 5 pick. The second reason is I don’t think he fits the game style mini wants to play, McQualter is trying to build a game style similar to GWS. This requires speed, damage by foot and outside run. Obviously GWS have tom green as there big bodied mid, but I see Sharps ceiling as worpel
GWS gamestyle only works with Green in there. Not saying Sharp is the guy we 100% need but GWS do make it work with a guy similar to Sharp.
There are other ways to fill that gap Green does than Sharp though tbf

Another link to Butler.

Hawks have offered him a 2 year deal.
Has interest from multiple clubs

I agree with Essendon in principle on fair value. The problem is how do you determine what that is? Clubs don't want to waste time and incur "Go Home" risks bidding on players already attached to another club and who will probably just ask for a trade back there at the end of their first contract. The price discovery mechanism if broken is there are disincentives on clubs to make bids on players in the academy system or F/S draftees. They need a better way to assess and assign value.

From the wording of the compensation request, it doesn't sound like the end of first is related to the pick that we have to trade, it's a different dot point, unless I'm mistaken.
You're absolutely right, they were independent requests.
But I think it's extremely unlikely to get a better deal than what North got a few years ago.

His lack of athleticism and top speed which for some stupid reason we think every player needs to have rather than ground ball work, good disposal and footy IQ. Combine will tell us a lot but his results won’t be published.
I'm getting the impression that we either have our eyes on someone else or we think someone we want will slide. I don't think we'll have both of picks 1 & 2 come draft night but I also half expect we'll have a pick noone has really been talking about. I do think we'll want Farrow though. Sharp and Farrow make sense. The question is who they combine them with and how.

If I had to put my house on it I’d say we take Duursma at 1, trade 2 and take Farrow with Port’s pick because we are largely ****ing idiots.

Blight, Starcevich and an unknown player also come in as well as the prelisted NGAs and a matched bid on Banfield. Will be melty.

I too have a horrible feeling we’re not going to select Sharp.

At this point in time I have no reason to not trust Massey & Co as thus far the results have been ok, and he and his team haven't yet had a Clarke Kent moment.

Yes, I do get your nervousness around the thought of us, botching up picks 1 & 2 and the long term ramifications that such a Cluster F*** would cause going forward.

I just don’t think we’re going to value what Sharp brings. He is the clear #1 pick in my view and a dire list need. I’d feel more comfortable if we kept both picks, being a SA boy is helpful too.

The Merrett Essendon circus will make the top 10 interesting.

Brad Scott: other clubs are jealous of Essendon supporters, we'll go through some short term difficulties but it'll make it all worth while in the end!

Hope Merritt does leave, I'd be happy to see Scott royally PO, can't stand the 2 faced kent.

Have we been linked to anyone exciting yet?
Not sure Sam Butler moves the needle much
With Ryan moving on, Cripps getting older and Owies being useless, we are in the market for forwards.

Essendon have Bewick coming so will be vehemently opposed to giving up father sons/being locked out.
