Geez.....vozzo didn't sound convincing when under the pump on sen radio this morning. Bombers in real trouble.

Merrett leaving is in their best interests, they just need to play hardball and get maximum value. They’ve made some terrible recruiting and drafting decisions for a long time and this is what it looks like.

At least we’ve totally bottomed out and hopefully take 3-4 top 10 picks this year if we play our cards right.

I hear his contract states he is required to produce 2 back flips a year

The germ didn't even have the minerals to apologize in person.

Geelong star Bailey Smith apologises to photographer after verbal spray

Gets paid millions of dollars to play sport and is knee deep in clunge, but he doesn't have it easy apparently.

Where do I sign up?.

"Bailey Smith doesn’t have it easy, but this latest outburst isn’t hard to parse — he flew off the handle,"

With the new potential out of bounds between the arcs rule coming in. Why cant it be the whole field?
If there not going to pay contested out of bounds situations ie. marking contests and tackle over the line, in what scenario is it so bad if its the whole field?

Probably because there field shrinks in the pockets, and having stoppages in the forward lines is good theatre and a source of goals?

Imagine if defenders couldn't really attempt to spoil a mark because it's close-ish to the boundary line. It's not really fair on them. Well that's what I think anyway.

From what I understand spoiling and actual contested ball don't count? It's generally focused on errant disposals.

As Bender_ says above my understanding is any contested situation its not going to be called. Its to punish miss kicks or just blazing away without a particular target and takes the grey out of insufficient intent calls.

Smaller area means probably more contests, means more likely a throw in anyway.

Unless theres something else I just think they're creating another area ie where 50 meets boundary line to be a "is it? isnt it?" scenario. Take that out and it would make it much easier IMO.

Yeah, 50m for infringing an imaginary area is such horseshit.
Its like a quarter of the field

After each game is reviewed the umpires should get 25% of their pay removed per bad decision and see how they go

Honestly for the first time in my football supporting life, if it is Geelong vs Collingwood in the Grand Final then I probably won’t be tuning in at all (have turned off at half time a few times in the last few years - but never not at least watched the first part).

Two thoroughly unlikeable clubs on every level. Absolutely sick of them and the hero worship they get from all and sundry for one.

I will support any other team against Geelong for the flag this year (even Hawks). They are a massive bunch of cheating campaigners.
I'm imagining a Geelong v Hawthorn grand final now...

Probably a tad extreme, but greater transparency around umpiring performance is definitely needed.

An independent review of decisions made correctly, incorrectly, not made, and team favored by bad and non-calls is long overdue.
