Looks like you win the last 7 years comfortably for mine - assuming Gibcus remains healthy.Just throwing out some random numbers, let's say trade pick 4 for picks 7 & 14.
(Ignoring the unavailable matched bids that occur between)
2024 - Sid Draper or Toby Travaglia & Murphy Reid
2023 - Nick Watson or Daniel Curtin & Darcy Wilson
2022 - Elijah Tsatas or Jhye Clark & Josh Weddle
2021 - Josh Rachele or Josh Gibcus & Darcy Wilmot
2020 - Denver Grainger-Barass or Archie Perkins & Oliver Henry
2019 - Lachlan Ash or Hayden Young & Cooper Stephens
2018 - Max King or Bailey Smith & Sam Stur
2017 - Luke Davies-Uniacke or Hunter Clark & Matthew Ling
2016 - Ben Ainsworth or Griffin Logue & Jarrod Berry
Couldn't be bothered going any further. Sticking to those draft numbers means no hindsight adjustments.
Looks pretty even to me either way.
Looks like he barely kick 35m
Totally agree with you, if Dyson Sharp is available at pick 3 or 4, we must pick him. Will be a very very good playerIncorrect.
Dyson has not played Under 18's since May 8th. When he has played Under 18's he has destroyed that level, he's far beyond that.
His Elim final was 13 touches and 1 goal played primarily from 70% HFF and 30% centre square. Paul Thomas coaches a low possession, long kicking style of football that is not conducive to 'big stats'. The whiole team was battling, the legs outcoached them in the end. I suspect a fairly high turnover at the dogs will come as Thommo is pretty polarising with his style for the 'modern player'. Over the last 3 SANFL LEAGUE finals, he has been in the top 3 performed players despite being underage by a whole season in 2 of them (2024).
He is a leader beyond his years, a warrior that you rarely find and will battle in all day, run both ways and do it all day. The best young player I have seen come through the dogs since Shannon Hurn in the mid 2000's. Mind you Dougie Cochrane is about to beat that next year but he's something else.
I've said it many times before, we aren't expecting Bontempelli here, expectations need to be real but a Ryan Griffen type with a much harder edge with Hurn levels of leadership but at the coalface. Built for finals footy that is hard and tough, contested ball is ALWAYS going to be part of the game and something he certainly excels in. He is powerful and quick out of the contest when he wants to be, agility in tight with clean hands being his best skill, usually with multiple people hanging off him. Definitely rough around the edges, definitely not sexy, smooth or line breaking but nails his narrative and role very well and is superb overhead at a Bartel like level when going forward. Thrives on contact.
All in all, sure there will be plenty of better players than him but he'll be in a high bracket for a while and his leadership will bring other players along for the ride. AFL captain in waiting.
We should look back in history. We are thinking about this draft wrong. There's a lot of talk of taking Sharp at 3, then splitting 4 and hoping to get Robey and another later in the draft. I'd change the thinking. I'd take Robey at #3, and then split #4.
Whilst there's always players who turn out elite, I'm not hanging my hat on any I've seen in this draft - it seems a crapshoot to me. I'm not even hanging my hat on Robey, but to me he has the most upside, so why not take him and parlay the other pick into multiple?

I personally don't buy into players "being a reach". If thats the player you like and the player you want, you take him at that pick, regardless of its "too high". you miss out otherwise. Or you try and be fancy and trade down and you probably still miss anywayThe tigers interest in X. Taylor tells me we think Young might be out the door.
Robey seems like the most fitting player for our needs and our draft strategy, but depends on if it's too much of a reach to take him so high.
CDT, Duursma and potentially Sharp might be too good to pass on if any are still on the board.
Could he become a winger?X Taylor has unassuming gun written all over him IMO.
Don't think BT does 1.10 Sunday games.Imagine the fun commentators would have if this year we drafted
Felix Kneipp
And next year we drafted
Jordan Knapp
Both mids
BT would have a fit
Lets go the double and take 2 bolters at 3 & 4.I remember the last time a certain bolter was taken at pick 3 by us![]()
I’ll probably cry if he goes to WC
Bang on. WC can literally build around this kid.Incorrect.

heck that's an all time win-win for me.Bang on. WC can literally build around this kid.
I will ****n let tiger_tough belt me if we get lucky enough to take him at the Tigs.
Tell me you haven’t watched Sharp without telling me you haven’t watched Sharp. Can't understand the Sharp interest. The last thing we need is another Taranto, Hopper type.
Reckon hes more Rowell than he is Taranto or Hopper. Those two guys will be 32+ by the time were contending again and Sharp will he coming into his peak. Can't understand the Sharp interest. The last thing we need is another Taranto, Hopper type. Need for speed from the contest with outside class.
Could live with Robey because he has marking power and seems to have good endurance/running ability. Interesting that he was 172cm evidently two years ago, hence his rapid acceleration this year. Plenty of other good linking running players, but not Sharpe no matter if he won a Larke medal, so did Jack Graham for much the same reason as Sharpe, bigger, stronger, more professional.
Yes I've watched Sharp, and yes he hunts the ball but unless we delist Hopper, Taranto and Ross pretty quickly, he looks superfluous to need. He may well be better than them down the track, but I think we need a different more attacking, dynamic midfielder, and one who could play an outside role until a spot opens up in the middle.Tell me you haven’t watched Sharp without telling me you haven’t watched Sharp.
