How has the eagles been pushovers at the trade table?
They traded overs for Liam Baker who was out of contact.

Liam Baker only did 7 years. Had he done 8 years, west coast eagles would of got him as a free agent.

Tigers would of got the similar compensation pick as the crows for Crouch who went to saints. So pick 21 to 24

Not to mention our dealings with Carlton and Hawthorn last year

I think F2 is reasonable, especially because Ryan can’t have the value in our current list that I know he can provide. That being said, I do think he can be a 30-50 goal player at the saints, so F2 would be a steal for them.

If I was thinking reasonably I would take a F2, but WC have been absolute push overs at the trade table so I prefer asking for more at the risk of getting nothing.
He’s only ever kicked 30 goals once though.

He kicked 22 goals this year in our team. Given actual supply, 30+ goals doesn’t seem like such a big leap.
But he played in a premiership team and kicked 30 goals
Based off that thinking Higgins who kicked 46 this uear and 120 goals in 3 years he would've kicked 65a year in a team with better supply

30 goals in his debut year with Jack Darling and Josh Kennedy as targets alongside him. I rate him very highly, and not just his goal kicking but how he provides a link up out of defence.

That was 6 years ago
When he was 23
Was very good in 2019 and 2020 I agree

I normally agree with a lot of what you have to say but I don’t necessarily agree with this. I just don’t really see where else this goes. He’s done the medical and requested to go to them specifically, club wouldn’t have signed off on the medical happening if not for discussions taking place that both teams deem fair. I think an F2 is appropriate value right now especially given it’s likely that it gets repackaged either this year or next year.
Just because a player asks to leave, you dont have to make it easy for the opposition club to get them in.

Its entirely on the Saints to make it happen, Liam is a contracted and required player, hes in our best 22, we dont have a replacement for him.
Hes worth more than a throwaway pick that we wont use.

We dont have to settle, you have it backwards here dude.
We have no other deals riding on this, all we have to say to the Saints is "come to us with a fair offer or go away and stop annoying us".
At the end of the day we lack in that part of the field yes but Ryan doesn’t exactly fit the mould of what McQualter is going to want going forward, doesn’t do the hard yards nearly enough.
Doesnt matter, hes still by far our best half forward and probably our 2nd best forward behind Waterman.
I don’t think you’ll be complaining when looking at the entire off-season as a whole by the end of it, is where I’m going.
Dont care, itd look better if we got a fair deal for Ryan than if we took unders just because of ???

Higgins was playing alongside no other good forwards all year.
Ryan has played most of his career(while we were a decent side) alongside probably the best KPF of the last decade, and close to the best sidekick KPF(Darling)

Completely different circumstances, not comparable.

As was pointed out to you at the start of this.

You are going to help a former premiership player with a good deal on the table get to where they need to go and as simple as possible.

Just like we helped a homesick Jaimie Cripps get back home for unders.

I am sure I don't need to tell you this but Richmond got pick 14 for Baker - which pushed out to Pick 17 after bids and compo, which Richmond would have been aware of when accepting the deal.

The pick was used by Freo in the end to draft Murphy Reid, the best Reid in WA, as they recieved it via the Shai Bolton trade.

So ultimately, we are talking a reasonably slim difference in the 'value' between obtaining a non-Free Agent Liam Baker and waiting a year (which was not actually an option at any time anyway as he was uncontracted at Richmond..).

So while the broader deal for WC to obtain the 'Pick 14 (17)' itself was messy and unpopular, the actual price paid for Baker was reasonable market value.

Lmao what??

The deal needs to be good or at least have some value for the club too, hes not a free agent dude

Cripps was OOC, Ryan isnt

I thought you had settled on a F2? Why argue now that a F3 is appropriate?
Where have I said a f3rd?
But, he is 30 next year.
Should be a bit less in trade value than if you guys get a two time brownlow medallist in Neale
Neale would be a great get for the eagles
