Mini's management of the draftees was probably one of the most disappointing aspects of his coaching. Its a worry as we have such a developing list - hopefully he corrects it next year.
How ? I feel with so many senior players unavailable or having issues (kelly) we were forced to play kids not ready in positions not suited to them.

The biggest trick we missed was not bringing in Parfitt as SSP as soon as sheed went down .

He would have played every game and been top 10 at our BnF if his replicated his wafl form

No, he was getting games into our new recruits. Barker, Graham and Owies have made all the difference. Worth giving up pick 3 last year.

Are we targeting the bottom teams for new recruits this year? Trading pick 2 awaits.

Or we could just play and develop the kids...too radical ?
There was a point in the season where we went away from playing too many kids. We're clearly looking for older, best 23 players to allow the kids to develop their games at WAFL level while their bodies are building.

The more I ponder it, the more comfortable I am with P1 Duursma, and P2 Sharp. Sharp is the inside bull, 200-gamer as advertised. Duursma the high-ceiling, could-be-anything type transition mid.

A starting midfield of Reid, Duursma, Sharp, Hewett is well balanced and would be an opposition nightmare in 4 or 5 years.

Address the ruck issue with a mature-age pickup/late draft/cheap trade ALA Xerri, Grundy, Witts, Meek...

Congratulations, you're finally at where most of us were 3 months ago.

Now go ahead and get attached to the idea, that way you'll be extra spicy come draft night when CDT pulls on an oversized Eagles jumper.

You wanted Sharp at pick 2 back in early June?

Before Oscar Allen requested a trade?

When he had played two SANFL games, two Under 18 champs games, before SA won the carnival (as Captain), before his U18 AA, and before he won the Larke medal as MVP?

Either you're Nostradamus reincarnated, or you're a blowhard.

I've wanted Sharp since June last year given how great he looked as an under ager.

Reality is that we are unlikely to attract a player of the quality to justify parting with an early pick

Our R1 picks, including an end of R1 pick if we’re lucky enough to get it from the AFL, our R2 pick and all of our future picks should be off limits in a player trade

Unless there’s a surprise target, our trade capital should be limited to:
• Hawthorn R2 and R3 picks which at best will now be 33 and 51 before shenanigans
• The priority pick to be traded we’ve asked for which is still TBA both in terms of whether we get one and where it lands
• Whatever we receive for Ryan from St Kilda
• Whatever we receive for Chesser from Carlton

At the moment, Starcevich is the only player I have any confidence we can land, and even then I think it’s 50/50 he stays at Brisbane.
I'm going to really try and limit replies here.

Our ITK has already said on our board that Starcevich and Ah Chee are gone. Many on our board know of his (the ITK) connections with the club, it just doesn't get discussed, because he's easily identifiable by the club.

He's was also the person to mention late last year that we had a key forward on the hook for this trade period.
Ah Chee is a maybe but he’s linked more to Adelaide if he moves than us

Sam Butler looks a decent target but him playing a PF, and possibly a GF, with a contract offer to stay at Hawthorn on the table means he’s less likely than he might have been a month ago

Tylar Young from Richmond is someone we’ve been linked to that might be a possibility but he’s has other suitors in his home state of Victoria

McVee, if he moves is probably Fremantle or even another Vic club

Would love Steele in a Ryan trade but there’s been no reports that’s even being considered so put that in the BF dream basket along with Neale

From there, we’re probably looking for scraps in the delist/free to a good home pile with the likes of Robertson, Tunstill, Blight and maybe someone like Phillips from North. Or adding mature aged state league players if we are granted extra rookie list spots

Players like Davies, Fiorini, Flanders are going to stay or have more enticing clubs chasing them

The club is clearly working behind the scenes to identify players to improve our list but we’re a difficult sell right now

North Melbourne's first assistance package involved a future second, a future third and two extra list spots. If we are to get picks, I expect it to be along similar lines. As much as the AFL need to help us, I'd be pretty pissed off if I were any other clubs seeing Brisbane get MORE help.
Didn't they receive that a year earlier relative to us? I thought we are asking for help one year later then North.

Brisbane will lose ahchee to Adelaide if the rumours are to be believed.

With Adelaide's early exit their first (15) seems overs and Adelaide will have some nice local boys in that range like barker who they could sit on for a year with his ACL .

Adelaide have been very staunch with their trades in recent years with Dawson rankin peatling all done for unders so I doubt Brisbane get good value for ahchee

Crows are no longer bottom 4 so they need to pay market value in trades.

Ah chee won't get there otherwise.

Hey guys, Dark Sharks says Starcevich is a spud and wouldn't get a game in our side ahead of Blayne Wilson.

Who says no?

This is true.

I never actually thought Blayne was that bad tbh. Remember he was decent in the couple games he played.

Would've been great if the Baldivis Brumbies didn’t swoop in with a godfather offer and he was still our backline general.

We are. I would be surprised if the AFL went along with it though.

There 100% were people saying this time last year that our F1 must be held so we could get Sharp (some saying Fred as well tbh, so swings/roundabouts).

Which kind of makes it funny (or sad) that we are likely to hold 1+2 and may not take Sharp after an AA + Larke U18 campaign

Plenty of Larke medalists got at later picks.

OAllen went at #21 and Jack Graham won the year before and wasn't taken until #53.

Neither were really touted as a potential #1 pick though, were they?
