A few seem to be of the opinion that now is a good time to have a crack at moderators or moderation. I'd rather like to discourage that impulse so I'm going to make it explicit: a moderator on this forum is a poster like any other, and can share their views and have free use of the forum like any other. If you feel a post breaches the rules report it; attacking a mod for their posting or objecting to a post purely because a moderator said it is grounds for an infraction and some time off.

I’m not seeing that to be the response from the “masses”, even on the left.

Most of the left wing social media I’ve consumed over this has been basically “it’s a sad and wrong thing he was killed, but that doesn’t mean I now support his views.”

Good question but I think our preferred response to stochastic violence is through education, not direct violence.
Kirk was a purveyor of hate and I'm not mourning the fact that he no longer can perpetrate his vile ideals. But the violent act to take him out was still wrong.

Anyone worth their salt would understand that propaganda of the deed is a revolutionary dead end.
