The stand rule goes against footy dynamics, forcing a player to be a motionless object. They compound it by not forcing the kicker to start behind the mark. It also forces the umpires to focus on a motionless object.
The 50m penalty for running through the 5m exclusion zone but not impacting the play at all is another!
I don’t love the stand rule in general, but at the very least make it so that if a player opts to take their 30 seconds for a set shot then stand no longer applies. Guys just run around off the mark knowing that they can get far enough to not have to kick over the man on the mark. Umpires are always slow to call play on.

AFL won’t do it because goals = ads = $ but it’s a ridiculous rule

Also an absolutely pet peeve of mine is when a player is allowed to occasionally walk 10 metres off the line of the ball before being called to play on whereas other instances it only take a step (and sometimes not even) before a player is asked to move on. The inconsistency in interpretation is what makes it worse

Split 1 with Essendon for 5 & 6. If Merrett left I can see them offering overs as they need something to give the fans hope

6 for Flanders then package up picks for suns pick 8. I would say package up picks for pick 6 but not sure you can trade the same pick back?

End up with Flanders, 2, 5, 8

Suns get the points to match all there academy players this year & still have Pick 6 to move into next year.

That’s three captains who want out. Shame we can’t make it four with our other leader wanting out.

Thought Simpkin was older than 27

surely we do, Hawks 1st and and 4 years.
If he is the player we need in our midfield then we need to have a crack.
With the need for points GC have we may be able to cobble together some picks (of more value than 1 higher pick) for GC.

But need the player to agree first 😬

This is a bombshell of a trade period.

We need to sit back and eat popcorn, waiting for the inevitable phone call that a team needs us to get involved for own of pick 1 and 2. Extract maximum value out of other teams desperation. And don't include Hawks in any of it.

That's what we should do. What we will do...

It'd be somewhat ironic if Oscar ended up having the cleanest exit.

I mean really, the club (and maybe Oscar too) probably deserve a little bit of credit for how the whole dance was choreographed over a rather long period. Looking at the other clubs facing similar situations, we've come out pretty well.

Unless Essendon are REALLY REALLY desperate for Duursma and are willing to part with their top 10 picks for him I'm not trading pick 1 for anything...pick 2 I'm kinda meh on especially if it's CDT because how many pinch hit forward talls do we need on the list?
