I think Geelong will beat hawks. I think Geelong have this one win left in them. Whoever wins our clash is the premier. That’s my tip. A few people at the start of the finals campaign on here said Geelong will win the battle we will win the war. Let’s see. Hope you’re right.

The Champion Data guy on SEN (Daniel Hoyne) tipped Geelong and Brisbane this week.

His key indicator (was something like this) - prelim's are scrappy fights and about groundball. Brisbane are 3 in the league for winning groundball. Pies are 14ish (I was multitasking at the time).

Yeah they did mention that and then I think all three in the end tipped Collingwood.

Bring it on, write us off at your peril.

Collingwood reside down the Ponsford end.
Have made this error in the past.
Pretty sure Richmond always are at the Punt Rd end and Collingwood are always at the Ponsford end. Other clubs vary a bit more pending matchups

Ive been reading people stating that you can be randomly allocated a standing room ticket even if youre a P1 because seats are just that....randomly allocated.
But what I get from reading this is that the seats are allocated out in order of next best available, so P1's wont be allocated a standing room ticket.
Am I interpreting this correctly?

Maybe for a club like Collingwood where the number of P1 members are greater than the amount of tickets allocated to members would it be likely that a P1 member is allocated a standing room ticket?

As a competing club we'd get 17,500 tickets across a number of ticket categories, including standing room.

Unfortunately they don't let us know what the breakdown of ticket allocation is across each ticket category. Nor will the club tell us how many P1, P2, P3 members we have. They'll only give the flashy headline numbers of total members.

The ballot is black box stuff. However logically they would run the ballot starting with assigning P1 their tickets. Logically, they'd allocate P1 seats and only start allocating P1s standing room if they ran out of seats for P1s. I'd be amazed if we had enough P1 members (who registered for the ballot) that took up all available seating and we then had to give P1s standing room. I can't remember that being the case any other recent GF.

In saying that, I'd be checking the standing room box as well, just in case.

I'm P2 and am confident of getting a seat myself. I've been lucky enough to get them the last two GFs without issue.

For anyone interested in GF ticket allocations here is a link to a great article I read last night which explains a lot....

Im unsure of how they actually allocate the tickets, but as a priority 1 member I’ve got tier 1 tickets both times.
However, there was official communication from the club or Ticketek, if you don’t tick standing room, you’re no longer guaranteed the ticket.

I think it’s likely that priority 1 get better access, maybe because seating is allocated in order. However I think there can be a scenario where a priority 1 is given a standing room ticket also.

If you draw a standing room ticket and have ticked the no access, I’m confident in saying that your name doesn’t go back in the ballot for higher tier tickets. For that reason, I’ll be clicking the standing room, hoping they allocate in order as such, while having the insurance of a guaranteed ticket still.

Might be a scenario where you're the last P1 in the queue and next available is standing or obstructed view. So very unlikely but a minute chance of being assigned standing room as the next best ticket. The email did say if you are assigned standing but you have checked 'no' to these tickets you forfeit your P1 status/ticket guarantee

I have a vague memory of having to register a credit card to my ticketing acount in 2023 but I cannot see it anywhere on ticketek, hoping this doesn't cause any issues. Google seems to think there's no place to register a credit card on there either.

I have just gone through the same thought process and now thinking you insert CC details as part of the booking at the time.

Trying to get some mates into the ballot. If anyone isn't able to attend and has a spare barcode (any priority level, they'd be happy with standing) DM me.

Good luck registering everyone 👍

We wont be nominating we are fine with standing room tickets which we have done 2023-24, found out a few days ago one of our group is 16 weeks pregnant, I don't think she would be ok standing all day.

You can always nominate seated only, you won't be guaranteed tickets but most of the tickets are seated after all!

Logged on and only had 100 people ahead of me in the queue. Was done in under 5 minutes. Now just gotta hope we make it!!
I thought I did alright, started with about 2980 infront of me.
Done and dusted by 9:15.
Priotity 2 and went no standing, so lot of luck and I'll be level 2 .
Anywhere will be great , if we get in of course.
And confirming you do put your credit card details in as part of the process.

In the 2023 GF, we had fewer attending and looking at the priorities and where people got it pretty clearly went:
  • P1 filled up the first few tiers, with a handful in each held over.
  • P2 got whatever was left of the top tiers and then largely filled up the next tiers.
  • P3 got the bottom tiers including standing room.
It looked like the ballot retains a certain number of each tier for the lower priority lists but it's definitely a much smaller quota and broadly speaking it filled from top down.

If anyone has some spare barcodes they are not using for the gf (priority 2) could they please dm me. Looking for 2 only so I can take the entirety of my immediate family (we have current four person family membership that we share between our four kids). Good luck to everone in the ballot today!!!

I updated my Ticketek visa details this morning before the ballot.
Everything seemed to go through, I'm in the ballot. Considering my first given name on my Lions membership is a shortened version as to the one on my bank visa account and what you said.
I just checked with the Lions membership and was told the Grand final tickets are all done through Ticketek.
As I said ticketek have the correct details ,so hopefully I'm all good.
Let's just say the letter n was involved, you's can figure it out ;)

Reading through the email it states (out of order)

1. Randomly allocates tickets to Priority one first, then Priority two etc

2. Tickets will be allocated as next best available

3. Each Priority group is randomized.

My take from that is, tier 1 tickets will go to priority 1 members first, with any overflow either way, eg Priority 1 getting a lower tier or priority 2 fill the tier 1 seats. So high unlikely that a priority 1 will get Standing room ticket only, as all other ticket would need to be exhausted.
That is constant with what most have witnessed and heard the past two years.

I agree it’s unlikely that they exhaust all allocation of ticket to just Priority 1 members. From a marketing point of view, I agree that you would still allocate quotas to other tiers not to freeze those options out completely.
