Jumper clash fails

This is what the match up would likely look like if it ends up being a sunny afternoon next Saturday.

This is the best possible combination given the fact that Brisbane don't have classic red or blue shorts to match their Fitzroy top.
Personally I think if they did opt to wear their Fitzroy top then just thrown on their maroon shorts. But people on here say that would look hideous?... If you think that then answer me this. How many pure white shorts do blokes own at home? Not cream or grey. WHITE... I'll tell you the answer. None. Because white shorts are the true fashion crime.

I don't see any reason why we can't wear our full kit regardless if Geelong decides to wear navy shorts.

Yes Brisbane most definitely could. I was just going with Geelongs recent history of having white shorts as their default colour. Unless it's against Sydney, Geelong should never get their blue shorts out. Although against North Melbourne there's a couple of concerns there too.

How does a team wearing navy blue and white hooped jumpers and socks with navy blue shorts clash with a team wearing a maroon jumper with royal blue yoke and yellow lion, numbers and collar and cuffs, with maroon shorts and mostly maroon socks?

If Hawthorn had won the PF and the Lions were going to wear their maroon and yellow Brisbane Bears-style jumper I could understand worries about a clash, or if the other PF went the Magpies way and Collingwood were going to play the Cats with both teams in primarily white jumpers, but Geelong and the Brisbane Lions don't clash at all. If they do and I have somehow missed it, please explain it to me.

They don't clash. Everyone agrees with that. But what has happened in the past is Brisbane wear their Fitzroy top (which they are quite justifiably allowed to do so) and then pair that with white shorts (because they don't have blue or classic red shorts)
Now this still isn't the worst of AFL uniform clashes but it's just unnecessary given my above comment of Brisbane could simply throw on their maroon shorts.

I could have sworn I have seen the Brisbane Lions wearing royal blue shorts with their Fitzroy jumper.

Yeah Nah. Not because of any problem with aesthetics, just because you wouldn't want to bust out a wierd new combo in a GF, where even the slightest little deviation might throw the players off a smidge.

Even if they get the shorts wrong, at worst it will be as bad as '23 which was far from a complete mare, and better than last year, which from the back, was/is a real balls up.

Lions didn’t wear the Fitzroy jumper in the 2023 GF. I presume that means they want to wear their home jumper in GFs.

Geelong could wear white or navy shorts and either would work, I think that’s up to them.

Grand Final match up is completely obvious.

Wonder how the AFL will manage to stuff it up, they will find a way.

I think the fact that the Lions last night in maroon shorts means that the AFL is starting to get it. I’d say the Lions will be in full home kit, and the Cats will have either white or navy shorts, and both would work.

Needs to be white. Especially for a day game when it could be sunny or gloomy. You need sharp contrasts. Dark vs Light.

Maroon vs white is perfect.

Arrh good point. I didn't realise that. I was going by the last 3 finals Geelong played Brisbane in Melbourne with Brisbane wearing the Fitzroy top with white shorts.

So if the Ollie Henry picture a few post above is the case, there should be no problem as Geelongs default shorts of late are white.

Just saw Cats white, Lions all Maroon. Finally AFL house made a decent decision
Link please.

AFL house using common sense for the three biggest games of the year sounds too good to be true.

What's wrong with Geelong wearing their blue shorts and Brisbane wearing their away jumper and white shorts as per the qualifying final?

It's an away jumper not a clash jumper for Brisbane, and this game is essentially an away game for them, both from a venue and seedings perspective.

Isn't it obvious? Geelong have significant white in their kit, so Brisbane avoiding having white in theirs gives the best contrast?
