2025 List Management Discussion - Part 4

Now that our season is over, and news is starting to break - it's time for a fresh thread.

This thread is to discuss all things list management - trades, draft, free agency, delistings and more.
As we are now officially in our off-season, we'll be wanting to keep this thread more strictly on-topic than the previous iterations.
Be respectful. You are allowed to disagree with someone - but play the ball, not the man. Repeat offenders will have their posting rights revoked.

Thanks to Lore once again for this incredibly useful spreadsheet.

2025 KEY DATES
Free Agency Period:
Friday, October 3rd - Friday, October 10th
Trade Period: Monday, October 6th - Wednesday, October 15th

Well that explains the trip to Sydney then.

Melbourne are about to get a massive let off if they can somehow dump that contract.
But they have to pay potentially up to 700k of his contract each and every year for five years? That’s got to hurt.

Think I would take their list still but it's close. With Petracca and Merrett likely to leave they both need to go full rebuild now.

I reckon Dees have waited 1 year too long. Should have traded May, Trac, Oliver when they had more currency.

I still think Geelong would be the best fit for him.
Geelong have enough on their plate with Bailey Smith..

If Humphrey is available we have to go hard.

2025, 2026 1sts, 2026 2nd and Butler for Flanders and Humphrey.

Worst case scenario he's a Rayner type, best case a Dangerfield.

Would easily be the most exciting prospect we would have been linked to.
I am pretty confident Humphrey's has told GC he is 100% staying and to interested in go back to Melbourne

Gold Coast would be insane to part ways with a contracted Humphreys, even if Petracca + change was coming back the other way. The Dusty comparisons look justified so far, I reckon Dimma would hold him to his contract even if he did request a trade home this year.

Academy boy but I really rate Jake Rogers, he’d be a more realistic target clubs should be having a red hot crack at. So much talent on that GC list, hope they get raided. In previous years I would’ve loved to see them get some success, but not now it’s been manufactured by AFL HQ, fook em.

Wow - offline for 28 hours and 15 pages, presumably with nothing new?
This is not right.

Ok well here I go, skimming the pages I missed…

A sign of how far we've come is that Petracca and Oliver are now both available and we clearly have zero interest in either, even the nuffiest Saints fans aren't that interested.

Just ponder that for a moment.

Melbourne are rooooooooooted from top to tail. They haven't even started their rebuild yet, and its going to a brutal one.

Steven King is gonna have to be as strong as a bull to survive, even with Bailey Humphrey and Harvey Langford and vote thief Jack Viney he's in for a brutal few years.
4 years from a flag and yet Oliver seems like a niche need and Petracca is in flag or bust mode.

When building a list trying to know what the AFL is doing is ****ing paramount.

And knowing when to blow up the list is also key.

Young Clayton is going to find it very hard to find a new home.

Can picture Melb officials heading dropping as they watched that airport outburst.

Surely GWS don’t have a role for him. [PLAYERCARD]Tom Green[/PLAYERCARD] and Oliver won’t work.

Actually annoys the crap out of me.

They were a joke club for so long. Then get fined $500k for "not" tanking, only to receive an assistance package exceeding the fine 3 fold, plus Paul Roos. They finally get the act together for an asterisk year and win the flag giving us the longest drought. Then just as quickly become the joke club that they are again. I hate them.
